Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

What a Horrible Conference Call

CA sounded like a desperate fool: AI this and AI that, it was pathetic. Then when challenged what kind of apps would use AI on the phone, he danced. Absolutely no revenue growth going into next quarter, including IOT & automotive. OpEx cost reductions (ie layoffs) in 1H fiscal '24. No Apple revenue projected for 2024. Good luck!

Yet another abysmal earnings call, they seemed lost, didn’t answer questions (why are peers guiding improvement for 2H), same bs around AI and Auto (last I checked Auto is ~5% of revenue). Quotes on design wins that mean nothing. Then, of course, very vague cost cutting announcement. They didn’t bother to size impact of inventory correction for coming quarters….does anyone believe these guys? Truly unprepared.

I believe CA is a smart guy at his role. He has all the skills that needed. He stays open always to Slido questions. I appreciate his decision and being so bold to increase everyone's salary by 10+% last year. The problem is at VP level who are failing in increasing company's productivities, staying visionaries and optimizing opex.

One of my friend had told me about how within IT they have DVC organization, which always shows multi millions of value additions with their small work and justifies the higher headcount needs, for the work which can be easily executed with lower heads by reducing role redundancies over locations. The similar strategy and problem will be in other departments. Q needs a change but for sure not the CEO!

QC's AI is bullsh-t, data center AI product have been going to market for four years with zero sales. The employees who reported the real market demands were all fired by this group of people just because they unintentionally exposed the gap between product definition and actual needs, as well as the incompetence of the product development team. It's not surprising at all that the company has reached this point. Ever since Sanjay left the company, the promoted people have been based on connections rather than performance and ability. Shame on JT/RA.

He is screaming AI since Nvidia's bombshell results last quarter. He thinks by chanting AI, he can prop up the stock. But he does not have anything to back it up. On device AI is BS. CA is a fool and must be let go.

AI is nothing magical. It's just algorithms and computation done very quickly.
If it is magical maybe it can replace upper management.
