Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

August 15

Anyone else hear rumblings about something big on the 15th?? Looks like lots of private meetings in Bartlesville that day.

I’ve wondered about what the previous post is alluding since I saw the ELT group picture was posted last year at the Investors Meeting in NYC.
Sometimes body language speaks volumes.

So was it simply the delta variant. That was one of the worse ones that damaged people hearts more than alpha or omicron?

Well the insurance data using baseline claims for 2017-2018, the number of insurance claims for disability from covid was reported as 20% above the baseline, but the actual number of claims for non-covid events was over 100%, so double the baseline.

Statistically this is astronomical - 6-sigma event and can only happen during things like wars or pandemics but clearly covid only increased the number of deaths by 20% while something else (not war, not natural disasters and not covid) was up 100%.

What was it? I think we all know the answer.

So what does this have to do with the topic of this thread bashing our ELT? One -maybe to 'deepsix' via what we all saw in recent memory here with extreme censorship,

OR two perhaps merely to point out that unless we do as other energy companies have done and go completely woke then we could prosper by beneficial government intervention.

The fact a media outlet like USA Today is even broaching the subject is...odd

B’ville not to blame but those who doubt a B’ville shutdown it’s been looked at constantly since we left COP. Garland had shutting B’ville looked at at least 3 times under his watch 2012, 2015, and more recently after the Chinese national was caught stealing secrets from the research center. Plans were to relocate ‘high value’ employees and purge the rest. Not speculation here, actual projects that we ran with outside firms. It was an option in the initial BT forum. All that to say B’ville, much as I love visiting and it’s a great place to raise a young family, ain’t part of the long term plans. Maybe this is part of it, maybe not. Just know it will happen.

If you can “work from home” there is someone in india who can do your job for pennies on the dollar.

So here’s my take…

It seems obvious that next week’s activities will include an announcement that certain groups will be offshored, IT and Finance are likely candidates with some Procurement for good measure. Remember that effort to categorize finance and accounting work a couple of years ago? It won’t lead to layoffs J. Bryant told Bville. This offshoring is the next phase. I assume this is the reason she’s back roaming the Adams Building. This “transformation” (there’s that bloody word again) won’t be immediate like a layoff, but completed in phases. I’m sure new ELT member Jackson and our saucy CFO have done work behind the scenes to procure enough Indians to take on the work, most likely through KPMG (ELT Jackson’s former employer, fyi). This ain’t her first rodeo.

From an employee perspective, I hope there’s some sort of voluntary severance for those interested in leaving prior to cutover. For those who will be training our lower cost replacements, I suggest sticking it out, get a package and then collect unemployment for awhile. If that’s not your preference, stay on P66 payroll while giving minimal effort but be looking on the side and jump when something comes up. Unfortunately, quitting in a huff won’t have any impact on the ELT who are driving this, but it will put further stress onto your coworkers.

Keep your cool because there probably isn’t much you can do to change things. Knocking fellow workers in either office location is useless, but I have no issue criticizing management who are driving this. There is no honor to speak of in this elitist and hypocritical group. They tout “good energy” and the like, but they absolutely do not care about employees. T. Jackson’s KPMG bio says she cares about her community and society…how? Offshoring good paying jobs of her countrymen to India is caring?

It’s really sad how our company has been whittled down to the detriment of our own people. Strength, Honor, Commitment!

The employees in Bartlesville or anywhere else are not the problem with P66.
The problem is the ELT, led by a know everything there is to know about everything CEO, that is destroying this once great company.

Why move to Houston when you are outsourcing?

Is there an effort with this date to begin forcing people to move to Houston? Didn’t think P66 would ever consider that.

It’s not a bad thing that the people working in Bartlesville care about their jobs and their community. Tearing people down anonymously is so easy. Maybe instead of mean comments about Bartlesville or specific people we should help fellow employees find better jobs elsewhere.

You might feel similarly if being laid off meant forced uprooting of your entire family to move to another state. Stay classy.

Just get rid of Bartlesville. It seems like you are all the ones that complain the most. I have yet to see successful productivity from that office. Show them your worth and take the initiative instead of thinking everything should be pampered to you. If you're worth more, stop worrying about being laid off and go do something else.

It’s obvious to any objective observer that BT has failed.
That’s not to say there haven’t been some successes. Most notably is the employee initiatives but they could have done without “changing the way we work”. And even then they haven’t made us near as much money as they claim. Of those savings, a lot are 1 time deals.
Now they think if they just layoff a few more people everything will be great.
It’s not going to happen!!
BT has tried to fix what wasn’t broken and made huge mess as a result.

Why shouldn’t we call non-executives out by name. It’s those a** kiss**s that make the executives think they are doing well. We should name them all.

Has anybody heard anything about layoffs in field locations on the 15th?

A friend brought this to my attention. I know it’s frustrating to see what the company has devolved to - competitively, but perhaps more so culturally.

The rumors are many, the anxiety is high.
It inspires some ugly rhetoric - as seen here - try not to take the bait. What does that achieve? Be kind to each other, or at a minimum, respectful. That’s what has historically made P66 such a great place.

There are undoubtedly gaps on the leadership side of things but no need to call people out, by name - especially non-executive non-leaders. It’s warranted but even it it were, it’s unprofessional and achieves nothing.

Coming together, building trust and supporting each other is how you weather the storm. That’s how you get through. I’m pulling for all my friends and colleagues still at P66. Be the good. Control for what you can. Press forward. I’m rooting for you!

Lastly, you are not your job. Remember that.

Best of luck.

The McKinsey lobotomy of P66 continues. Can this be real? We went from 1st place to last amongst peers under the Executive Leaderless Twats. That’s winning? In my 30 years I’ve never seen such stupidity. So damn sad.

I second canning “the funniest accountant.” While you’re at it what’s with that overpaid a-s kissing lawyer guy Craig. What does he even do? Want to save money? Outsource that. We’re the real workers! We pay your salary pretty boy!

Should layoff that guy who spends all his time posting dad jokes on LinkedIn during work hours so he can pursue his passion full-time. We’ve laid off or lost so many good people yet we still have a b-m like that? Suppose empty shell dimwits are what we’re looking for. Honestly, you have time for that? I’m working 16 hr days here.

Time to get that Indian work visa if you want to keep your job for 30% of the pay. Oh wait, India doesn’t want foreigners taking “their” jobs!

Fake Sean Connery and new ELT members approve. Strength, Honor (psssh, yeah right), Commitment (to shareholders only)!
