Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Layoffs anticipation

The first thing I did when I woke up today was visit this page. Now I have to wonder how many days this month I'll start by visiting this page first thing in the morning to see if anything new came up. I really hope they decide to do this sooner rather than later because this is not the best way to function.

Yes, I can say my area of the business is super quiet now. Like a tomb when we should be busy. Boss and directly above don't want to talk to you as they know nothing and wonder if they could be hit.

The CVS play book has 3 steps when they buy a company. Wait a few years and sort things out. The first sign of 'trouble' they do the following.

First some older EVP and SVP will retire like we saw in March and April. They got their bonus and stock and bye bye.

Next is what we see now. It will be some dead wood we all wish would go and long time managers and directors. They are paid a lot and when replaced the new person will be cheaper.

Then in few months the VPs who did the dirty work will appear on LinkedIn 'pursuing other interests'.

At this point the VPs will be briefed next week. News will go out in the following weeks and people could be gone by end of August. IT and customer facing people they move fast as they worry about them.

IMO, this whole thing was handled poorly. I mean I guess I would rather find out from the company about layoffs rather than the news, but this anticipation is terrible. Sending out that earnings email this morning was in really poor taste too. I feel like my supervisors are as worried as we are…

The HR contact doesn’t think there will be another but their bosses are extremely tight lipped.

The company is undoubtedly losing productivity due to anxiety induced by this terrible communication. If only there was a way to quantify this and report it to the shareholders, as justification to curtail Karen's (and the rest of the ELT's) obscene compensation.

I know I'm the odd one out here, but believe me, I'm more worried that I won't get laid off. I've been looking for an excuse to leave this place for ages and now there's a good chance I'll get paid to leave? Good riddance, I don't wanna work for these dunces anymore anyway!

I wish I could respond directly but can you ask your HR contact if there are more expected rounds?? Over by the 14th is good news! Thank you for sharing that.

I have a contact in HR that says this will be over with by the 14th. They are really tight lipped all I could get was the sales org has been “trimmed down.”

1000% agree. It's emotionally draining, difficult to eat/ sleep. And my manager says/ knows nothing at this time.
Feeling like a sitting duck.
