Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Some transparency would go a long way

Imagine if our leadership respected us enough to let us know what was going on time, whether the news is good or bad? I'd certainly respect them more than I do now when they're keeping us in the dark until the last moment, like the cowards they are. Just imagine.

I’ve actually had leadership tell me face to face that they don’t know anything when I knew they did… only to have layoffs days later on the exact date I was initially told.

They have this secrecy pact to spare their own jobs at the expense of their subordinates who have been loyal to them.

Personally, I’d respect the entire structure way more if they told me and gave me time to find employment elsewhere. Rather than knowing about it for weeks or months and then pretending like it was a spur of the moment decision and there’s nothing they can do, which is an outright lie.

Health insurance is only to end of the month you work, then it would be COBRA coverage if you select it.

How long with they continue paying health insurance for people who are being layed off?

Yes, cowardly leadership. When there are layoffs to this extent it is proof of failure at the most senior levels of the company. They are too cowardly to admit they failed and therefore zero communication.

Is coward leadership, so layoff it in dark and blackout information. If they believed in decision will come out and announce it publicly to media.
Shareholders and US DOL should know this!! Any media coverage of this will be very helpful.

@Thissiteistoxic.... The information on this site has proven accurate numerous times.
Imagine being naive enough to think the leadership has your best interests in mind. You my friend must be new around here... and clearly were looking for information on layoff's otherwise you wouldn't have found your new favorite site.

When I hear the headcount I keep thinking, "mom, are we broke"? Is this just normal across the industry or is leadership here extra special?
Like on paper does it look like we are rolling fatties but all they are is filled with stems and seeds?
Does our company just shift the same dollars from balance sheet to balance sheet to keep the stockholders happy and C suite secretly sells off shares at maximum dollars?

Do other companies have leadership teams come up with some crazy new idea, have completely unrealistic time frames to competition, throw a bunch of money at it, then add people, not give it enough time to mature, scrap it, layoff, onto next shiny new thing...

Do they shift jobs around the globe to capitalize on labor costs and incentives, but then find the saving don't equal performance and are forced to rebuild the crumbled infrastructure with contractors onshore or nearshore?
Or is that just the observation of the people who have survived the endless layoffs. Someone should do a "if you have any spare time participation trophy contests" to analyze that trend because this place is something else..

They are protecting the company’s information. The minute they tell you you’re laid off, they block you from everything. I understand it, people get angry (with good reason!) and want revenge by deleting things, etc.

Fairly judge leadership because they treat the staff so fairly! You need to wake up, tomorrow may be your day!

Leadership probably signs off on the need to reduce headcount and then the details are outsourced to some firm to pick and choose who to axe.

They can’t/won’t tell us until the last moment because they think we’ll just be unproductive short-timers searching for new jobs until we leave. This way, They can squeeze hard work out of everyone until they tell you. Plus, they’re afraid of people leaving early. Wouldn’t that be awful?

Imagine being naiive enough to think you have all the details to fairly judge your leadership. Are you on all their calls and emails? Do you know what they have been told is allowed vs what isn't? I'm glad I only just found this website. It is uber toxic and I encourage anyone reading this to not return either. Exposure to speculation and uninformed judgement is unhealthy.
