Does anyone else agree that is a poor choice in how inform your employees of a layoff? Now we must all sit in fear, for weeks to come if we are going lose our jobs? How can someone be so tone-deaf? It makes me not want to work for CVS anyways!

CVS is Public - They are required to announce the layoffs before results come out. They have to answer to their Board - It’s Still So Stressful!
Hope those in this thread are safe 🙏🏽
Tomorrow we report earning !! And today they announce layoffs. Not sure what to make of it? Are we showing lack of growth due to covid now a past? I assumed our Aetna was doing great ..
I guess we forget that this is a business and in order to operate. Company cannot be in the red. Even though we are touching and changing lives.
Never a great time to hear this news. CVS people will be in shock for sometime moving in slow motion.
As bad as the news was keep in mind they can't call all 250,000+ of us individually. So we all got an email. Not good but imagine reading this in the press first.
This is being done in preparation for the earnings call later this week. Profits are down, stock price is down. Fixing that is what investors want to hear about. The cost cuts of travel, consultants, hiring freeze and layoffs show CVS knows there is a problem. All this does is give them some time and cover to work on the real problems that they bought a bunch of stuff that has not paid off.
It's not right. I couldn't sleep at all last night. There's so much he said she said about who's getting let go. Can't even focus

The email that came out today states 5,000 will be laid off. Looks like more emails are planned to come out addressing this over the next week
Hang in there
Appears like the new workforce will be aligned and in effect for 9/5 (3 days a week in office) based on some silly social media guidelines they sent out for leaders.
So if you’re out, you’ll be out soon.
Worse would be a zoom call or pre-recorded video saying they’re termed effective immediately. Still the suspense is rotten…

You probably got paid more to say that than I get paid yearly.

How about everybody stops working until we know if laid off or not.
Who can work like this? And announcing it on Monday keeping it open, weeks to come.
Big mistake.
I was laid off from my prior role in 2017 but ended up getting hired back in another capacity before my severance ended. I was informed that I was being laid off the same day the lay offs were publicly announced and before I had even heard the news. Which to be clear was preferable to having to wait days to weeks on end to find out if I was going to be let go. Especially considering we were provided absolutely no context as to what business units or departments will be impacted and no definitive timeline of when we will find out by.
So yeah, this is incredibly insensitive and makes a mockery of our “Heart at Work” behaviors. Also incredibly short-sited if they think that productivity won’t be negatively impacted while we wait weeks to find out our fate. It’s almost as if they are announcing this so far in advance to see how many of us will jump ship for other opportunities beforehand to get out of paying out severance.
Yes I’ve been apart of layoffs for other companies and have never seen something like this. Not only must we work on edge but we are expected to work to the best of our abilities! We literally just had mid years and don’t even know if we are getting bonuses! This is insane and CVS Health should be ashamed! They pay us fairly low as it is and in this economy!
