Management accountability

The first and most essential role of a manager is to lead people.too often I've seen people with some individual technical ability being appointed to the role of manager and then suddenly have the responsibility of leading large groups of people.they obviously become like headess chickens and revert to the same tactics as the id--t before them.same phrases"I have an open door policy,I demand complete employee accountability ".no young employee is ever going to knock a managers door with an issue.if a manager fails to interact and familiarise day to day with workers issues he is solely accountable for all failings on the factory floor.you will not find the best man for the job by taking a lift home from the greyhound track and giving that person a job in thanks.a young farmer tossing around college getting a degree while workers were already in the factorys and dealing with real word issues has to earn respect the hard way.I've seen employees being brought to the managers office after hours being questioned with some internet learned interrogation technique and fail miserably.is it any wonder issues arising are now being handled by hr.the pass the buck culture has left them with nowhere to hide during the latest layoff debacle because instead of passing it down they look upwards with fear of being next.
