Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Received email Update Career Story

At Friday evening 11pm 7/28 I received an email from a few levels up to update my Career Story and learning plan. I’m not sure who else got the same email since it didn’t have my name in it and it was just a general “Hello!” but they are saying it is an “annual enterprise-wide refresh of talent information.” They want it done by Sep 1st. How worried should I be? I thought I saw previous posts of people being asked to do this before a layoff. There are some people team HR people CCed to the email.

Same with the grade 29 reviews. Leaders have to do a “talent” review and rate questions like that employee’s ,s aptitude for growth and likelihood that person may leave the position or risk. Also everything you add to your career story is used in HR algorithms. Make sure you click on every skill to market yourself. What you add in your gss career story, skills, certifications are viewable in an app for management called Structural.

During a town hall, it was said that teams with less utilized staff would be moved to teams needing help - and this may be how they figure out who can be moved.

This is something they've been doing for years. Not related to layoffs.

We were told it was mandatory for GL 28 and above and was told a couple weeks ago to complete it. Never thought of it being related to layoffs
