In one of the earlier posts someone's brought attention to the importance of keeping up with the industry changes and expressed belief that this company is failing miserably at it… I absolutely agree with that... You? What I don't have an answer to is what exactly is the reason for that.

You know DST and the Toms, as they are called failed. Yes they didn't forsee the profit in the internet. A insiteful programmer wanting to sell a broken Laser pointer pen online was the 1st "ebay" transaction! Yes he thought it up on his own. LOOK AT EBAY NOW. Look at AMAZON NOW. It started as selling used books online from a garage, The TOMS were not intellectually able to grasp the internet and its use. Heck they could not even figure out that sub-accounting would ruin DST profits. DST is history. Other competitors are still out there thriving.
My manager had his secretary do his MBA papers for him. She stayed late to do them. Guess he wasnt smart enough to do them himself. He was d-mb, and blind as a bat
I was DST Manager. My employees were great, till I changed my mind. They were smart, till I changed my mind. They were appreciated, till I changed my mind. They were promoted, till I changed my mind. Given nice raises, till I changed my mind. Allowed to take time off whenever they wanted, till I changed my mind. I bragged about my staff to other managers, till i changed my mind.
I can't remember why "I changed my mind", they all made little mistakes. Now I lay them off every chance I get, and hire new cheaper staff, ride them like a tyrant, and yell at them, "since I changed my mind". They are all worthless and expendable since I changed my mind. i don't like any of them anymore.
This was the most disappointing company that I have ever worked for. It was poorly managed, little job security, and you were totally on your own to learn newer technologies being brought on board. A constant stream of layoffs. This ran totally on the element of fear with no chance of a raise above the rate of inflation or any career advancement.
Dst hired many people who were not intelligent. Everyday people who had been there 2x longer than me, would ask me many questions. They were stuck. They should have pre-faced the question by saying "I am not able to do my job, as I can't figure out or understand what I should do. Will you help me do my job? Without your answer I can't do my assignments. I would fail". Hundreds of questions each year from my coworkers. Eventually I left dst and they tried to call me at my new job. I ignored them.
The reason is executives at dst graduated from the same sub-par college on troosr Avenue. Most have just a batchelors degree. Nothing further. Simpleton, promoted only because of college friends, not worldly outside ot the state lines of missouri. No desire to learn once promoted
When you treat employees like cr-p, have no real product vision nor anything but a massive roll up and dont trust...
Theres a guy at mar-a-lago that runs businesses just like ssc.
