Why is there so much turnover in the land department? It seems especially bad lately, are people just unhappy? Seems like quite a few folks are also leaving for renewable energy jobs or oil companies with much better pay.

A few years ago my landman left Oxy to become a gym spinner instructor. We dont miss him. He didnt get much work done anyways. Same for many others. Oxy is 80/20: 20 percent of folms do 80% of the work
It’s amazing how everyone who posts on here is a “high performer”. Probably all the millennials who ALL think they are high performers. Trust me they are not all high performers.
I don't know what Land dept you are talking about. Zero turnover in mine.
I bet your coworkers feel better about their salaries.
Go then. We’ll miss you, not.
I am looking at possibly leaving Oxy Land after I found out how much more my co-workers are making with the same title I have. I am consistently a top performer, but I don't feel valued after hearing what some of my coworkers are making.
At Oxy, the little people don’t really manner. They are just like robots that can be trained to execute the important people’s plans. As long as there isn’t high attrition among the important people, they can easily replace the little people who are a dime a dozen.
@lbbe+1nOC0Kfn, so tell me what the attrition rate is. Or you could just suggest I’m a boomer or part of HR.
@lbbe+1nOC0Kfn, quit making things up. You have no idea what the attrition rate is. All you know is what you see out of your little cubicle.
It’s not just the land people leaving, the attrition rate across all segments of the business is continuing to grow. I find it hysterical that there’s such a huge disconnect between the people running the circus think is happening and what is actually happening.
The pay could definitely be better in land ops.
They’re leaving because a landman is supposed to be hustling acreage for expansion and putting together deals, not dealing with damages to keep a pi---d off landowner from harassing the local field hands. Does anyone have any idea how all of the different pieces of this business fit together?
What makes it seem like that? What are you hearing? Or are you just assuming?
Why don’t you ask them why they are leaving?
