Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Unionize

No one like the swing of hire, hire, hire then layoff, layoff, layoff.

It creates a poor culture.

Why don't we unionize??

Unions help ensure raises and stable health insurance.

They had anti union speakers to leadership last summer saying if you unionize then the company can’t “give” you a spontaneous raise

Who gets these magical things unions supposedly block

i've been in a union and i think people commenting anti-union are "leadership". dues aren't that much for what you get. employee health insurance and job security su-k here - unions take care of that. alot of healthcare orgs are union including doctors and nurses

More unionized folks are laid off per capita each year than non-union. With a union we’d just get to pay someone for the privilege to be laid off. SMH.

If nothing else, let's keep talking about it here, you know the company watches this site and they do NOT want to unionize. Maybe they will get paranoid, like they make us

I was in a union for years and it was awful. The only thing unions do is reward slackers with the same benefits as hard workers.

I know people who are in unions. It is not as good as you think. It's more hands in the cookie jar.

That’s exactly what needs to be done. This company plays mental gymnastics and it needs to stop.
