I was working in BT and got laid off. Fine but why? The company is growing. EPS was impaired but the company is cashflow positive and had more projects teed up than could possibly be executed.
Considering the Recipe for Growth I can't imagine why leadership is voluntarily trimming staff in light of the huge project portfolio backlog. What the aim?

Bertrand is finally running past Covid as an excuse and is now facing the consequences of all of the experience and people he has layed off and fired in a once again competitive environment.He has really only had one idea in his career and that is cost cutting. He has been extremely well compensated for it but the kind term effects of his tenure will hurt our company for years to come

Sysco is growing cases and revenue but is crippled by soaring expenses. Count the number of senior executives this year vs 5 years ago. Count the number of new departments added at the top, and removed from the field operations. The corporate team has minimal impact on adding cases and growing sales and yet they are adding more people at the top and removing it from the field. Cash flow is down in 2022 and 2023 from years prior. They need to cut expenses, and they don't care about the people unfortunately. Their aim is to have a good earnings call so that all the fat cats keep their jobs and bonuses.
