"Blue Buffalo" - Is that the Lowes brand dog food? It sounds like "Blue Hawk" but less sacred and palatable for peoples of indigenous origins.

"... These outlets, tried by countless other retailers, including of course SEARS, always lead to profit loss. ..."

This is a fascinating comment. Over the course of my life I've noticed this trend for folks to keep repeating the same pattern after it's shown that it doesn't bear fruit. Sometimes lightning strikes twice, but it's unusual. That doesn't stop them from trying.

Perhaps Melvin is one of these guys who hasn't learned the lesson "What got you here will get you no further."

These outlets, tried by countless other retailers, including of course SEARS, always lead to profit loss. The most profitable way to deal with damaged goods, especially large bulky products, is to destroy it if significant damage (Vendors "pay" for it, but of course they just add that cost to our price of the product across the board) or sell it in store if minor damage. The profit is already low on brand new appliances. When you add the freight cost, repair cost, and the cost of running the "Outlet", it is a substantial increase in the cost to deal with returns. Another imbecilic move by Melvin and the minions.

Clearance centers for repaired/scratch/dent/returned appliances. They mostly located in large, metropolitan areas only. I know there is one in South Florida, Atlanta, and a few other major cities.

From the description, it sounds like an alternative way to deal with returns and one-offs that would be more expensive to dispose of otherwise. It's probably a decent idea.
Maybe there will be fewer dogs and Tide thefts there?

"Lowe’s said the outlet store will provide savings between 25% and 70% on branded merchandise that typically includes scratch-and-dent, discontinued and slightly used appliances, patio furniture, grills and more."

more of the "polish the tu-d" mindset.
