Michigan's So-Called "Not-for-profit" Hospitals Don't Give Much In Return for Tax Breaks...

"In 2019, Oregon passed one of the most ambitious plans for ensuring that nonprofit hospitals give enough to merit their tax benefits. The state has begun setting minimum community benefit spending levels for each nonprofit hospital and requiring hospitals to check patients’ eligibility for financial assistance before sending medical debts to collection or charging interest."
