Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Overnight crew changes

Heard some talk. Any truth to any rumored changes. Is it all stores across the board?

I'm a Night ops DS at a Lowe's store in Jacksonville Florida and we are now a five night operation. We're keeping the same hours as the old 1TT team. Same hours 7 to 6 with 6 or 7 associates. Had to move 4 associates to other departments due to lack of hours now. First DS kept their shifts, Sun to Wed and me being second DS is now Tues to Fri because nobody's wants to pull delivery on Friday for Saturday. I kinda got screwed. I'm working 3, 11 hour shifts and 1, 6 hour. Good luck to all effected by changes.

If they will cut the AC on overnight I don't care. 100F last night and all the AC turned off in the store. DS literally did the override and the units didn't even turn on.

Heard tonight it was company wide. We were told it will only be the full timers actually unloading and working freight from 8p-5a. The part timers will come in and start the truck at 4p-8p, be coverage to departments, downstock, and zone the departments. Also one DS would be getting moved, and our other will now work 9p-6a. With our no truck days being Wed and Fri, we were told no one will get the weekends off and we are expected to be there.

These new changes have half of us getting ready to quit, our DS included. They expect the 3 full time people and a DS to unload and work a 800-1100 piece truck at night to completion.

They should go back to Monday thru Friday like it was before. No need for trucks on the weekend.

They announced at my store that they are going from a 7 night a week overnight crew to a five night a week crew. They said that no positions are being eliminated, just consolidated. Is that true! Time will tell.
