Ouch….New Leadership Is Horrendous

Spot on from someone there for 5 years….not 17 days. Even funnier. Like only one good thing about working there. RIP Splunk.

Pros

  • Pay - Benefits - Work Life Balance

Cons

  • Zero opportunities for promotion. - Internal opportunities are limited. - New leadership and ELT are clueless and don't care. - The talent acquisition leadership is absolutely tone deaf. They took a great org and demolished it. They implemented new tools and processes that are horribly time consuming and make no sense. The VP and TA Director have no idea how to recruit. They are very cutthroat and will throw you out the door if you don't agree with them and play the politics game. They have no interest in getting to know you or defend you. They will constantly call you out and take the business's word over yours so document everything!!

Advice to Management
LISTEN TO YOUR RECRUITERS!! Stop doing things without their input because you're making their lives miserable. It's nothing but constant anxiety at Splunk. Get to know your team instead of having that layer of management separating yourselves because no one respects you.

So in EMEA there is a new leader who joined from Dell.
She is useless. She only got to her position because she was with the SVP of sales. She is frankly rude, arrogant, and does not know how to speak to staff members.

you can be in high school and say "used splunk in home ec to track cookie baking" and you can get hired as a "infosec splunk architect". there were literally kids in arch and eng jobs. nothing against youth movement, but you can spot their lack of experience/use cases a mile away. and then getting on customer calls and the dead silence of people who are either clueless or realize the customer who actually uses the platform for security knows a ton more than them and they have no answers. cringe worthy.

The entire HR function at Splunk deserved to be shutdown.

Splunk recruiting was atrocious before the new leadership. It's not a new thing.
