Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Query to Bcom

VMware employee here.
We are told your financial year is November to October.

But…
When do you get pay reviews/ pay rises?
When are promotions within the year?
When are you awarded bonuses? ( are bonuses mainly rsu’s? Or money?)
How many day’s annual leave do you get?
What’s the grade structure?

These are all key things we are wanting to know….
Could anyone say?

VMware employee here. Been here 10 yrs and never heard of a car allowance

But their are other allowances (internet, mobile, gym, wellness) that I expect to be cut the second Hock's car pulls up on PA campus on closing day

Don't expect any allowances other than your base pay / bonus / RSU's . You come do your work, get paid and leave. There will not be any fancy offices, parties, team lunches. Like someone said earlier, bcom is not a normal software company so don't expect all the perks and benefits you will be totally disappointed.

@3sgf+1nGjwoiV Are you serious? Car allowance? Broadcom has basically no allowances. Hock's philosophy is "I pay you enough in bonus and RSUs". Broadcom's total comp is excellent, if you are at a higher band. But they provide nothing else. If you are a lower band, probably look for another job, as your bonus and RSUs will be low, and you'll basically get nothing for a pay raise. The promotion cycle is at least 3-5 years at the minimum, so do not expect to rise fast. As others have said, Hock approves each promotion.

So it sounds like, good bonus and RSUs. But Payrises are rare?
Are we talking 0% or just 1 or 2%?

Do you have a company car leasing scheme?
Currently VMware only has car allowance, no car leasing scheme.

If u lucky u get bonus and rsu. Raise and promotion do not happen. Welcome to Broadcom.

Bonus from 10-45% depending on grade. Can get a max of 150% of this if AVGO performs.
Promotions - don’t think about these too much. Hock vets every promotion.
RSUs March - these are decent as long as the business performs. Expect approx 150%+ of your base salary (grade dependent)

You are asking the wrong questions to the wrong company. These are questions for normal software companies. Bcom is not a normal software company, you will know more when you get there. Most of us working here are just grateful that we have a job when we wake up in the morning

Hi, I am a ca to broadcom transitioned employee and let me try to answer what I can.

When do you get pay reviews/ pay rises?

In July, but be aware many got only once in last 4 years(2020-23), thanks to COVID and recession this year and massive share price growth.

When are promotions within the year?

November in General, but in case of exception, it can happen anytime through year.

When are you awarded bonuses? ( are bonuses mainly rsu’s? Or money?)

Bonus is relative to your job level and ranges from 10-30% of your package for most employees. They will be paid in December salary as you need to wait for year end numbers to determine company performance component and your division component.

RSUs are awarded in march.

How many day’s annual leave do you get?

I believe 25 days for Europe and India.10 sick days. Not sure about other geo.

What’s the grade structure?
Are you talking about the job levels? For IC, it's 8 levels.
