Tesoro/Andeavor constantly reviewed the market/site mix for optimization. As a former Tesoro/Andeavor employee, I can tell you that what I experienced with MPC from acquisition until I left was quite unimpressive. Management seemed to believe that Findley was the epicenter of the refining industry and that all real knowledge resided there. It didn't take long for those of us to realize that MPC was not the place to be.

Good…and get rid of the old Andeavor clowns while they’re at it.

Marathon has been talking about dumping some assets in the west for years. Salt Lake City was discussed as a sale target before COVID. The problem now is who wants to buy one?

All west coast refiners are. The operating environment is terrible.

The West was doing just fine as Andeavor then MPC showed up and fugged it all up.

Any specific West assets (Anacortes?) and are they looking to sell or convert to sustainable fuels perhaps?

Sure was nice being told how much MPC stock employees can have. Thanks MPC and whoever was involved in that great idea.

Wouldn’t doubt it. That’s what started the end of Kenai Refinery being a great place to work. All the talent got transferred or quit.

If there is even the slightest chance it would appease their shareholder overlords I'm sure they're considering it.
