Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Workforce RIF

If I request to work onsite will that prove my value to not get let go?

I would love to work a hybrid schedule to really learn how upper management works and has hands on with in our day to days so that way I too can learn how to be a True Optum manager that use trickles of hope and lies, false promises of hiring more staff, rebalancing of work distribution to match my job description and then gaslight my yearly MAP scores and CLL goals to be marked lower. I wanna become a snake too and learn how to hiss, please let me know if any grade 28-30 manager roles. I’m ready to skate along in this game also….

When you become a leader all of those things are dictated to you. Its best to not have the best people in the world on your team. Only 5% can be the best, 10% almost the best, and 5% needs to be on a performance review. Everyone else is in the middle. Having all high performers is the worst thing a manager can do. You NEED slackers, you NEED over achievers and you NEED average people. But, then the good ones get frustrated and leave. But in this team makup you can easily lay someone off, give someone a bad review and not fire or layoff the good ones. They'll decide to leave on their own, you just need to find new ones. That's how it works here. For layoffs you're given a list of job title and ages you're told to pick one to lay off. You don't know who they are, you can guess, and sometimes you know, but you're not given a list of the entire team, just some of them. So pick one. That way Optum is off the hook, the manager picked the person. It's a great system it feeds the bonuses to the Board and other major leaders. They don't care about you, it's just a job. Make sure you have multiple streams of income or other options or a lot of savings. It's the way it is here.

Thanks for bringing laughters! Despite RIFs and hiring freeze- they are going into hiring “temps”/“contractors” frenze - why? They use them as “shields” to save their own jobs ..easier to rid off temps ..does not mean FTE jobs be saved.. it fits into their plan of going under the radar to avoid PR and gradual RIFs thru out the year ..
