Layoffs July 2023

Heard they cleaned house once again. Over 200 field reps, 3 vp’s 6 directors.

Some real shockers such at director of facilities although rightly so. He was pretty ineffective.

Who has the skinny on this round?

They've moved most of their accounts to the inside sales team so they could pay them half of what they pay field reps. Service levels are cr-ppy and all of the field reps that survived the cut were given new books of business, brining many of them way below plan. Reps that were at 100% were handed books in the 70s.

Staples and WB Mason walk all over ODP in the Northeast and NYC tri-state region. They can’t and refuse to compete with pricing and service resulting in lost accounts and disgruntled customers.

The miss on the Q2 number must have been huge to make a cut this wide and deep. Upper management just can’t get out of their own way.
