Thread regarding 3M layoffs

How is anybody willing to join 3M considering the company's current reputation?

I think 3M is still offering a good compensation versus other corporations out there. However, the company has so many unknown risks that could impact the future. In the last several restructures in EO, I could tell the company is in desperate for reserving cash for litigation. They cut the people with no plan to back up those roles and responsibilities. The global VP/ Director is worthless with no idea on people working on as he located overseas. There is no surprise for more supply chain issue and customer interruptions.
Young entry/mid engineer can start your career here for several years as 3M is still a good place for training camp. Many companies would love to hire you with 3M experience.

Employment at 3M is what it is.

As a 3M executive, my personal credo and challenge to the bottom 90% of employees is that career expectations should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a Ride!

For the top 10%, career expectations should be arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, with healthy family, an embarrassment of riches, paid for homes in North Oaks and Sanibel Island, health insurance for as long as live, access to private jet service to save time, and long and interesting retirement at age 65.

Things certainly have gone downhill over the past 3 years .... But I have worked other places and trust me 3M may not be what it once was, but I have worked at much more &@#%*'d up places! Probably not a popular opinion but for many who's only lense is 3M it seems extra intense! The disappointing aspect is it used to be awesome, now it is like every other American corporation.

The reputation is less of a concern given that the salary offered by 3M is good for the job.

It's the reason I still work at 3M. I'd like to leave and find a more stable company to work for, but I don't want to take a pay cut to do it.

People do not really understand how bad the situation is. They see 3M as the company it was before 2018.

For those who are still young in career, suggest you look elsewhere. 3M doesn't have a healthy pipeline and future is bleak with two major law suits. Whatever is earned need to pay up for next 10 years.

People need to eat. If you need money and 3M is your only job offer, of course you take it. It's not a life commitment.

This is an honest question. Do people simply not care?
