semiconductor propaganda

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/19/us/politics/semiconductor-worker-shortage.html

A classic case of peeing on my leg and telling me that it is raining.
This is not even clever propaganda by this particular media outlet.
We should sell them to China for maximum profit.
Let me guess, they want to bring in even more foreign workers so they can lower wages even more. I hear at tsmc they work 14-15 hour days and sleep at their desks. Really.
The semiconductor world is laying off all over the place. It's a frickin disaster.

The amount of time and energy needed to advance in science/engineering is enormous which does not match the pay. I wish the re-educators at our so called universities would speak up about this but they remain silent. They too are benefiting from the cheap labor and money from abroad while holding tenured (permanent) positions. It appears we are living in a class system.

The funny thing is none of the semiconductor executives and McKinsey partners who continuously propagate this talent shortage cr-p are ever going to send their own kids to this shithole of an industry. These a--holes are simply destroying careers of promising young students who think this is a great industry to get in. Over past two years, 13 universities have started graduate-level semiconductor engineering courses. Vast majority of these graduates will be unemployed.

Another cr-p they love to peddle is this 'good paying jobs'. Semiconductor pay is mediocre at best for the technologists and outright janitorial for the technicians. I know people who would rather drive for GrubHub or Amazon Prime.

The real problem with the unskilled labor pool is well trained people are too smart to stick around for the abuse... We leave the industry. The week minded and the sociopaths stay. The industry and workforce is tainted.....

The same week that Micron layedoff tens of thousands of years of Semiconductor experience across the globe April, Gatzemeier and team where in New York bosting about the investments they are making to to ensure a qualified workforce. You are a fool to believe anything they say.

It is truly amazing to see the transformation from the trusting and transparent leader that Gatzemeier was at IMFT to the bold faced lier that he has become. I guess having Integrity called out as a company value and a requirement for hiring has an impact.

don't care as much about the jobs as the potential for jobs
