Anyone else want to understand why we just sent key leaders, during inventory prep and Father’s Day weekend, from stores all across the country to support Herald Square in case they couldn’t come to a union agreement, and then have them all fly out a day in advance spending at least $2m in flights, hotels and transportation only to turn around and send them back home after less than 24 hours? But we are in an expense crisis right? We can’t fill our open jobs right? Even some leadership roles? Please help me here because the math isn’t mathing.

So are the jobs really frozen? Or is that more bs because other executive positions are getting filled.
We do the same thing here in the bay area. I can't count the number of times we have had to send people to Union Square during negotiations. Be happy you only have to send help to Herald Square when there are contract renewals. Here in the bay area, we have to send people to Colorado whenever there is a regional or corporate visit. It doesn't matter what the workload, cost, or leadership coverage impact. What matters is that we continue to present the visits stores with unrealistic standards and that our senior leaders can all get on a call the following week and talk about how great the visits went, regardless of the impact to the stores and people who were left behind to try and run much larger stores with minimal coverage.
As always lets not solve problems but rush around putting out fires while wasting money doing so.

Herald Square is the center of Macys universe didn’t you know that ?? Just like when the CEO visits the store, stop the presses to help out.
Let them eat cake
They do the same thing to the west coast stores when Union Square is about to strike. Leaders would be flown and put up in a luxury hotel with all meals and transportation paid.
