Team building - totally sucks

What is up with all of this forced team building lately? Somewhere leadership has gotten the idea that this will cure all of their problems. Knowing what someone are for lunch two weeks ago on a Tuesday isn't going to make me work harder. It's going to irritate me that my time is being wasted when I have actual work to be done. Today was this stupid game, where it was obvious one coworker was searching the internet for answers and cheating. Well, guess what now I think less of her than I did before the “bonding” event. Most people work from home that I know do so because they hate the in-office drama you can't avoid. You don't need to like your co-workers, just be adult enough to work with them when needed. Does anyone really like team building?

I can’t stand anyone on my team! They are home off on mars somewhere!!! One on the team says “like” almost every third word! Did you ever attend a public speaking class?

My team has a meeting everyday we just look at each other. The only person that talks want let anyone else talk. Its all about her. We all dislike her shes lazy and a bully. But none of this matters anymore since my entire team is getting laid off in August. If we play our cards right it maybe October. What a joke.

I disagree with no one likes to talk about themselves, there is one on every team. We are bored to tears with her just going on and on, then when she is done we have to hear about her kids and their in-laws and every boring detail of their lives.

Precisely, when did just wanting to get your work done and do an excellent job become a bad thing? Those of you that like this nonsense because it means you don't have to be working, we all have people on our teams like you, and guess what? Everyone knows you are lazy, and no one likes working with you! This new manger I have is a gem, if you don’t want to be included just say so. Ok I said so next thing a list with all of my personal information is being shared with the team.

the only thing I care about with my co-workers is that the FBI has their DNA. It's such a toxic culture, I don't want to know anything more about their personal lives . Management & HR supports this unethical/hyper profit driven h*ll hole. You're welcome.

Agree- the about me slides and presentations are cringe worthy. No one likes to be put in the spot and forced to be made to talk about themselves.

Any time I get an extra "break" out of production is fine by me. Bring on the useless games.

Because some weirdos write that they don't feel connected to their team on the surveys so they do stupid stuff like this to say, "look at all we are doing to connect our remote teams and build CULTURE!" 98% of us just want to do our work but the 2% win.

New CIO … Comedian. Extremely weak. Some of the guys he has brought may have acumen.

They literally destroy the teams we build over the years then force those of us that are left on each other. No thanks.

Exactly! The people that I work with are my colleagues, not my friends (except for 1). This team building, and sharing personal information with others in recorded meetings is infuriating. It makes me like people even less. I call it "forced friendship". When it is my turn to share, I just make something up. I only share personal information with close friends and family, not colleagues.

Team building…waste of time! We could be helping members during that time
