The 3M name doesn’t carry the weight that we’ve been led to believe. They aren’t even Fortune 100 anymore. When I was interviewing externally, there wasn’t a single employer that acted impressed by having 3M on my resume. I was let go by 3M in Sept, 2022. I can say that my resume was more than good enough to land in a great place. I was able to take away my experiences, training and network that I gained while employed by 3M. I am able to talk about the countless successful projects I was part of or got to lead. I am able to talk about leadership, who l used as a mentor and who I got to help grow on their profession journeys.
My story is 3M is great company filled with amazing dedicated employees. I company is struggling and may go bankrupt. This is not the fault of the employees below the executive level of management.
Might be your resume…Many employers have been impressed that I am a former 3Mer, and typically extend their sympathies for the sh---y position. many laid off are an encountering. The companies I’ve interviewed with in the Twin Cities always mention the hey can’t believe 3Ms fall from grace
