Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

New Campaign New Policy

They released their new campaign, "Business is Human" now they are doing everything they can to show employees humans don't matter. All full time work from home employees are being told they need to be hybrid employees! There were hundreds of employees granted full time work from home in August 2020, now the SLT is living in the dark ages and despite an opportunity to showcase how they could be the leader in WFH supplies, they are going to "fire" people with no severance because they can't be hybrid employees!

This has zero to do with RTO and everything to do with being able to fire people opposed to including them in the layoff where a severance is paid out. JD is the least honest head of HR Staples has ever had.

The "How We Work" policy has very clear guidelines for the remote associates (pre and post COVID). HR is going against the policy in order to force people out. It's as simple as that. JD does not respect Staples's talent nor the managers of the talent. The morale and productivity couldn't be worse largely due to, ironically, HR.

I’m happy to still have my job post Covid so going back to the office 3 days is fine with me Sure fully remote has been convenient but the company policy has always stated they can change things at any time Re WFH.

Compromised

Who are ‘“they”.:. How do “they” know what the future holds?

This site is the equivalent of using horoscopes to plan your future

It's Business is Business. That's really what they mean. 3 days in the office is really not such a high bar and pre-covid would have been a sweet deal.

More like broken logic.

Simple logic...

Numbers go up = work from home
Numbers go down = get your as* into office

It's not about what you like, it's about increasing revenue.

Downvotes incoming....

I was laid off a few months back after 20 years and was fully remote starting when COVID started. I wonder if that's why I was targeted.

I am obviously a fan of being fully remote and I hate that I have to be in 3 days a week (which is what it was before the Pandemic), but unfortunately this is a common idea from many larger companies including Amazon, who recently staged a walkout in protest. It seems like the big wigs decided to get together and 'take back control.' The bottom line is that anyone who was a Staples employee before the pandemic had been in the office before and should be able to figure out how to get back in. The fully remote positions that are available are highly competitive because anyone in the US can apply which make things a lot tougher. I hate the policy, but unfortunately there is little that associates can do. My biggest annoyance is that it is 3 days a week for everyone in the name of 'equity.' If Staples was so concerned with equity then shouldn't lower level employees be getting paid a lot more money? Also, not all departments require collaboration. Some of us sit behind our desk all day and barely talk to anyone. One size fits all is stupid. Let specific departments decide the best policy for their job roles.
