The former CTO of MTech was the one who spearheaded the ouster of the in house Field Techs and the change to NCR. Saved the company some money and has moved on after making a name for himself I would like it if they would bring back the in house support maybe in a smaller format but it was better that way. Stores are not crazy about the NCR coverage especially now with a majority of the legacy MTech people let go. NCR is planning to split into 2 companies so the level of support will get worse not better.

Letting MTech go across the nation, big mistake. Professional Field Service folks that collaborated with the stores and performed their jobs well. NCR is incompetent and irresponsible. Has anyone walked into the computer room in your store? What a disaster! They have trashed it so completely it is a wonder everything does not shut down. The bosses at MTech sold out their people for what? To keep your jobs? We certainly are not saving money. Get our people back!
The stores in my general area here in NJ have really good coverage from NCR. Things have changed and yes I liked it better when we had in house coverage. Some other regions have not been provided with great coverage outside of the Northeast. Has not been an even experience for everyone.
I hope that Macy's has wised up and will ditch NCR. Worst business decision they could have made. Get in house support back!
It would be nice if we could just get the damn OneX to work
I also work for NCR and can confirm the post. When we started it was communicated about the 5 year service contract so remains to be seen if Macys will renew. NCR is planning to split into 2 companies. There have been several news postings and also if you follow the stock reporting for both companies.
Where was this communicated
I work for NCR and am former Macys Tech, so at this time, there is very little information being communicated to my NCR team. In my Region they consider Retail much lower priority than the Financial ATM business. So that tells you something plus Macys is not a top concern as far as Management. You might have someone with lesser experience covering your store and other sites in your region going forward. Not sure yet when that will happen. NCR likes to rain on everyone’s parade so curious to see if Field Service support will be renewed when the original 5 year contract is up in early 2024.
