Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

There has been zero innovation

Qualcomm is still surviving on mobile chipsets and have not diversified enough. Automotive is still too small to make any impact. There has been zero innovation. Qualcomm has failed compared to Amd and Nvidia. It's another intel.

This is sadly what's been holding Qualcomm back and I don't think there's a way at this point to fix it.

The Qurry meetings are getting old and leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Qualcomm is its own worst enemy. They had a kick bu-t server chip and growing interest but myopic people like JT & SM ki-led it. Until exec mgt is replaced, this company is doomed.

To say no innovation has come to Qualcomm would not be a correct statement. Innovation has come to Qualcomm. There have been plenary of new businesses that have started up and new technologies. BUT Qualcomm has not done well on marketing new products nor has Qualcomm ever created a direct to consumer product.
This is something that should probably be looked into and would take the company in a different direction but is more than likely necessary

Yes, Qualcomm seems to follow Intel nowadays. CA should be careful, Intel changed CEO's multiple times in recent years.
In both QCT and QCA, the culture is more beneficial to people who focus on meaningless meetings, politics. If there is any actual work assigned, delegation shows leadership. The culture is not encouraging innovation.
Go to phone book, and check how many dir,Sr dir, principal In QCA, and get a count ratio to engineers or total hc in QCA. They all get paid by the Bay Area standard.

Having worked in Q as well as a Faang, Q's technical challenges often surpass that of faang. Low level constraints in memory, efficient message passing, cache, security etc that one needs to think through and gain expertise over time versus scaling techniques in faang one can be an expert in 6 months (why do you thing average developer age in faangs with the exception on apple is so low?) .
There is a cost in moving development to 'low cost' areas. While some enggs are good, the vast majority are average leading to higher development and product maturity time.

Clearly, mgmt thinks hiring more H1Bs and indentured Indians to spend their days having meetings with each other is the answer.
