But now I'm starting to get worried because I haven't been able to get anything for months. I wonder if it's just me or if there are many other people in this situation?

Find something that you like and want to do, if that's mentoring younger people or finding a part time consulting, just make sure it is what You want to do.
Are u telling me all those linkedin messages about unity and amazing talent pools that ppl are posting for SHEER SELF PROMOTION!! aren’t working… curious…
Like others said, it’s a horrible market to enter. Over 400k tech roles were laid off since January. If you’re in tech, don’t even bother to apply to any remote positions until you’ve learned about ATS formatting your CV so you get by the automated triaging on submission.
The 3M name doesn’t carry the weight that we’ve been led to believe. They aren’t even Fortune 100 anymore. When I was interviewing externally, there wasn’t a single employer that acted impressed by having 3M on my resume. Combine the mediocre reputation with the mass of talent released from bigger companies, and it is hard to stand out. Work your network and beef up your LinkedIn profile!
The hiring bar at 3M isn't very high in most functions if we're being honest. It's a good enough name to have on your resume, but companies won't be tripping over themselves to hire you just because you worked there.
Employers value 3M’ers? Don’t believe the hype of LinkedIn.
Building back better!
The market is bad this year, if you are looking for a job last year, the situation will be job-seeker favored.
But due to inflation pay-back, mass lay-off or hire freezing hammered the market in Q1, Q2 is not that bloody but does not look like a turning point yet.
Be patient, and be prepared, talking to recruiters, and considering open to re-location.
The market is saturated with mass layoff people right now. It's frustrating for me too. Hang in there. I'm leaning heavily on my pre-3M network, but not sure your situation, if you have one. I'm also leaning on my suppliers from my time at 3M for connections. Networking until I could get my resume in the hands of the right recruiters who understand my background is what I've had to do to start getting some calls and making some progress (still no interviews, but at least getting stronger matches to my skillset and pay requirements!)
Get LinkedIn premium. Build a list of high profile connections that could be your hiring manage. Connect - with a sales pitch. Way better than cold job applications.
I am as well. It’s SO frustrating. I thought employers valued 3Mers? I’m starting to think maybe not. I have years of experience prior to 3M, and I’m going to emphasize that more. I’m trying to be more flexible, and I am doing a re-write of my resume to get it past HR filters.
