I genuinely don’t know what MBA’s do every day. They now don’t own AYS. So they own hours, expense, facilities…and what? Hiring? Well that’s not happening right now. How long does managing hours/expense take a day? Maybe an hour or two? What are they doing for the other 6+ hours of their day? Most of them have AST colleagues to handle cash office. They order supplies maybe twice a month? Half the time they don’t even interact with facilities, always falls on OOM or SMM. We have just now been told that MBA’s also no longer own/manage compliance. Where in the past, they always were pulling colleagues up to the office to complete their training. Apparently, not anymore. The people leaders own their own teams compliance. Meanwhile, CXM’s & SMM’s now own compliance, customer experience, loyalty, placement, markdowns, visual, inventory, floor moves, functional planners, and apparently soon to be signing from what we are hearing. Anyone else feel like executive roles are super unbalanced??

I keep seeing, "not all stores are created equal" in an effort to not fall into this broad labeling of a glorified office manager but there are a stealth of comments combating that notion.
Unfortunately, my small door is the same way. MBA that VISIBLY gets angry when they're the manager on duty, having to go to the floor for anything.
If you're from a certain region & heard a story about the DVP that made the unannounced visit and found the manager on duty on their phone in the office: that was my store.
**** issues that NOT all of us have...meant to say
Lots of bitterness here. Our MBA works really hard and is amazing. Much better than the other leaders. Each store, each leader is different. Keep your bs opinions in your own store , obviously it has issues that all of us have.

Hiring - in most stores we aren’t hiring right now. Next.
HUR, payroll - okay, so you look at a report a make some adjustments daily.
expenses (hours) - don’t know what this means since it says hours in parentheses, sounds like what you stated above.
floor coverage, total store - floor coverage? Like they are going to the floor to cover the floor or they are making sure the floor is covered? Because this always falls on our CXM’s. MBA doesn’t bother.
safety - a commenter already made the point that MBA doesn’t really do safety inspection. Just fire drills - one a month or once a quarter.
compliance - this is now owned by the people leader of the colleagues and they have to make time for their colleagues to do compliance is what we are being told.
colleague check ins - what check-ins does the MBA have to do? Their 1 or two AST colleagues? Okay. The check in process is done by the people leader the colleague is assigned to and MBA don’t have any colleagues reporting to them other than AST.
housekeeping - okay so a once a month inspection. Cool.
All AST functions - mostly done by AST colleagues unless you are in a small store.
HR issues/tech issues/ any issues in general - this might take some time but most of the time this gets pushed onto OOM if it’s tech.

So much more that goes unnoticed, MBA usually do it all.
Someone mentioned safety inspections ... Those have to be ROTATED among different people through the year. The MBA doesn't do them all, they CAN'T. It's an audit points deduction if they are doing them all or even most. SO others HAVE to help so them, and yes it's going to be captains, CSX, members of the Safety committee, AP, etc.
You're just special , huh? ⬇️⬇️
It's ok ya'll the OP doesn't know anything. MBAs are second in the stores without directors. They are included in everything and are basically ASMs. You don't see them doing anything because they everything. There's a lot that is done at a computer
Get over it, different jobs have different responsibilities. Pretty sure the OP is a SSM or OOM. SsM will be gone soon enough and the OOM has a huge team if they can just manage it correctly
No one's fault but yours if you can't and your running around being a support colleague. 🎤🎤
Lol. OP you don't know squat about the MBA job and what we do. Don't have AYS on our plates any longer? Guess again. They don't report to MBA any longer but my SM said I still needed to "help take care of things" because the OOM doesn't have time to do it every day. We are still hiring in my store, new hires every week in a hard to hire store and turnover is tough. I have a PT AST only so I'm still doing replenishments & cash office almost every day, especially when the AST gets pulled to the floor to run a register. Compliance right now is on me. I have no down time. Safety program is huge, we are a monthly store so it's on my desk every day. Clam up.
At a certain store im in, MBA nor their support mba’s do anything! They dont even do cash pickups or drops, they dont even do the safety inspection, all of this is done by captains or cxm’s. Its really confusing what they do other than be on the computer and gossiping and acting like children, its very embarrassing and very unprofessional, the MBA is very rude and barely wants to help with any issue. My observation as a rep/vendor, at other stores i been they do way more than this specific store.
Most of the MBA that I deal with are very busy again this depends on the store. Stores are run differently and it depends on staffing plus the strengths or weaknesses of your other Supervisors. They have a lot of responsibilities and items on their plate just From observation as a vendor.
Not sure about your store but I work 10 plus hours a day and still can't get through my massive list of things. I haven't heard that compliance is owned by CXMs and SMMs? Not in my store. Do they get emails about compliance updates? Not on the one I just got. We don't have to explain to you what we do. You have a question...ask your SM what we do? I agree , not all stores are created equal. I have a SMM that doesn't do sh-t while the OOM and MBA run around crazy every day. Don't lump us all.
They sit in the office all day talking to the managers and scroll through the computer. It’s an overpaid and glorified admin assistant job.
Not all stores are created equal. This is coming from someone who works district wide. Weak or inexperienced store managers will load the MBA's plate to get things done on time. Also, the AST hours vary per store as some work part time hours (at best). More time is spent on hiring then you would think depending on the size of store....its just a fact. There are some great MBAs and if their doing the job well, you might not notice and assume they do nothing. Be greatful
