The first Possible event is about 11 weeks away, and the website still has “save the date” information. JW and her overpaid VPs can’t even pull together a basic brochure or details in a timely manner. Incredible. Wonder who they’ll blame for this.

There is nothing worth marketing, so who needs new logo sales?
JW’s Hairdresser is right about almost everything except marketing not knowing what they’re doing.
There are plenty of people in Marketing who know what they’re doing. The problem is JW and her crew slow everything down and set up road block after road block so no one can do any real work that may actually have an impact.
Possible is the tip of the iceberg.
Peppy below claimed TD is a marketing driven organization. That is hilariously wrong.
Marketing is about 150 people in this 7000+ people company. The full marketing budget is a DROP in the bucket compared to most of our competitors (for headcount, spend and martech etc). We have competitors who can spend more on one campaign or one event than marketing’s entire annual budget.
Peppy must not work here at Teradata, or hasn’t for several years. Nor do they likely work for a competitor.
(I sometimes wonder if the layoff dot com company just sends in trolls to post, to increase views so that their ads get more impressions.)
Peppy,
- Spellcheck
- Inform yourself about our marketing org first. Peer Advantage, EBCs, Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, Field Marketing, Analyst Relations, etc all have direct interactions with customers, prospects, partners, and analysts…
wake up folks. NO marketing program is going to work at Teradata. Once th company transitioned from a slaed driven organization to a marketing driven organization. Marketing has NO idea what the customers or prospects need or want, Marketing has no contacts with the customer or prospects. If you build programs only to pontificate the feild has no reason to engage or waste their customers time. Selling is a relationship activity and Marketing has no idia what the word means.
hmmmm so this is eclipsing the news of this week’s sales layoff…
Do not forget that AO completes the trifecta with ZR and JW.
She’s driving the agenda (speakers, sessions, etc) and gets in the way of her own team.
Not a cheap shot to point out the first event is 10 weeks away, and there’s still no substantive messaging or even a basic value prop. Everyone knows this is not on the marketing team as a whole, but rather on JW and ZR, who unfortunately do not have the marketing chops to match their massive egos.
Last year’s events brought in zero new customers. JW’s hairdresser made more money on Possible than TD did.
I doubt SG Possible will be cancelled. JW is looking forward to waddle in the MBS Infinity Pool and take infinite selfies to te--orize her ‘followers’.
Ultimately, the poor Field Marketers will be blamed if Possible doesn’t meet the imPOSSIBLE targets. From what I have seen, the field marketers (not any of the Marketing VPs or Directors) are the REAL ones trying their best to make things happen (no matter how bleak the situation is). It’s a tough boat to be in when company morale is low, sales think this is a lousy event but yet they have to do what they need to do and still keep their chin up. And those highly paid, good-for-nothing Marketing Directors and VPs aren’t helping by giving half-baked details and zero support to them. At the end of the day, the ones who work the hardest will get blamed, and trust me - If they could find a job now in this bkeak job market, they would leave and not deal with this imPOSSIBLE situation.
Oh honey, this board thrives on cheap shots. They eat and spew out cheap shots for breakfast. Sometimes for fun. But mostly out of honest frustration.
It’s not a cheap shot at Marketing. If you’re not part of the solution, YOU’RE the problem.
Sure let’s just take cheap shots at a department of 100+ when we’re all down as company, and it’s the (mis)direction of a couple leaders to blame. Cool. Real mature.
Does it feel good to lower yourself down to the same level as our pettier ELT? Does it help you sleep at night?
Ah good to see the ol’ Universe event mentioned. Possible 2023 is just Universe Lite. Very Lite. Unsure why it did not return to the old Universe name and kept Possible name.
Those who remember Universe event remember that the majority of attendees attended that as part of their contracts, right? Only a minority paid in full to attend… because most customers were discounted or comped.
Singapore Possible won't get cancelled. Our ELT got to rack up those miles and take their spouses and hairdresser on a long vacation on the company's dime, no matter what. Even if that means hiring some actors or letting some hotel workers in the ball room.
90%+ of the marketing team supporting these events is right there with you in the frustration. How can you market an event when there is nothing to say beyond a date and location?
Anyone else miss Universe?
Singapore possible will be cancelled. You've heard it here first. Currently a handful of attendees. It will be the most embarrassing event for marketing in many years. Let's see how JW spins this one?
Maybe this is all on purpose. Maybe nefarious? Teradata has made lots of enemies over the decades and has abused its customers and employees for a very long time. The board has done nothing except enable this behavior and has brought in these "ELT" clowns that they not only tolerate but seem to promote and allow to hire other clown BFFs. And get rid of anyone who could actually turn the company around.
Now that I'm no longer there, I can see things even more clearly. It's almost as if it's a plan (or at least a way to take the money and run).
AND YET….. they all have their jobs!!
Layoff sales people ki-ling themselves with little to no resources but keep the most inept marketing department ever seen… but hey- there is a minority hire running it so that makes everything ok! What a complete joke! It’s embarrassing quite frankly.
Possible…. you mean “Impossible” as in
- impossible for them to run a meaningful relevant professionally handled event
- impossible for them to have more customer attendance than Teradata employees (lol) at it
- impossible to have executives that aren’t just a clown rodeo show
- impossible to get the new lake product to work
- impossible to make a profit without just cutting employees
- impossible to keep good employees
- impossible to have a non-toxic work environment
- impossible to recover from the gross negligence in soooo many ways
Welcome to IMPOSSIBLE 2023!!!
