Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Was told I am not performing well, compared to others. How much trouble am I in?

What could be the impact, other than get laid off? What happens if I get a bad review for 2023? Do I get no bonus?

It is possible to recover. I had a bad manager and was judged to be underperforming under him years ago. Got a .6 that year which resulted in lower bonus. Moved out from under that manager the following year and career has gone well since including multiple higher and outstanding performance reviews and promotions. Good luck.

When a person is only capable of using pejorative terms when referring to people with whom they may not agree, THAT is surely a sign of intellectual deficiency. So sad, and often incurable.

Should we be judging another’s intelligence if we don’t understand the difference between your and you’re? Give me a break with your “woke” = “d-mb” commentary…

If your asking what being ‘woke enough’ is then the comment should be changed to your not intelligent enough 🙄

Grateful if the previous commenter could explain his/her statement of “…are not woke enough…”.
What does that mean, specifically? Thank you.

It means you are being pushed into the next layoff pool, you will likely have no real future with this company as a LOW or 0.7 IPF rating means you won't get the next job you apply for, and will have to stay in your current role until you get laid off, or they hope you quit and don't have to pay you severance. This can happen with good people, sometimes a manager will be forced to give someone a 0.7 IPF, this company is downsizing so just accept you are a casualty and you will be better off somewhere else. I would start working on your resume, and start looking for a new job.

Honest opinion here. Sometimes if you are not woke enough or just not buddy enough with your stakeholders, you could get yourself in this “bad performance” situation. You either adopt this company culture or say duck it and find something that fit your personality.

If you’re self-aware of your capabilities, skills and contributions you should be able to discuss with your manger and refute misconceptions of subpar performance with examples of tangible results and value-adds.

If you can’t, then yes, you’re in trouble.

You always get a severance payout upon termination even if you’re on a PIP. The only scenario with no severance is if you’re deemed to be stealing from Shell.

You may get placed on a PIP and then get terminated. Especially when working for managers that have no business managing people. It happens. you can still get your bonus but no severance when you are terminated.

Mostly that they will lay you off in the next downturn. They’re just doing the paperwork with IPF so you don’t sue them and leave quietly with the severance.

Most likely a 0.7 IPF although 0.0 is in the arsenal.

If you got the lowest rating you will not be bonus eligible. They are hoping that this will make you leave on your own so they don’t have to pay you a severance package.

Depends on your relationship to your direct leader, but overall nothing horrible, more of a scare tatic.
Bonus is based on IPF and BPF, so low ranking just means less of a bonus.
Bonus=(Base Salary x Bonus % of the JG)x IPF x BPF
