My layoff emergency savings were in my tesla model 3 which i was planning to sell for a profit. But its resale value went down by 25% I should have stuck with a toyota camry like a nice h1b holder.

For folks who are asking about internal blind - this is the internal company forum on the app Blind. You can subscribe to it only if you validate and log in with your official company email address. The discussions there are more detailed and the rumors listed there usually are true
If they don’t find enough volunteers in a team then There will be layoffs
Every BU is affected so seeing cuts made in auto BU would be completely reasonable.
I thought automotive bu was claimed to most safe..troll post ??
Thank you OP.
Automotive BU
It seems all the posts here and on teamblind are saying layoff in May. Cannot all be troll?
I also don't know about this internal blind...
What is this 'internal blind' that a few people have referred to?
Just another troll!
this is fake news
F paper pusher manager will not allowed notify impacted employees before the date
Thanks so much, @OP. All best wishes to you.
Would you mind sharing what businesses unit are you in?
And what’s the go word for internal blind?
H1B or not, everyone has their own unique situation, everyone suffers their own way of getting laid off. Sorry to hear OP. If you can let us know what the severance package looks like and whether you get the RSU vested, it would be greatly appreciated.
@OP, Sorry to hear. why don't you post same on internal blind?
Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear this! Good luck to you. hope you find something better soon.
Just had the dreaded meeting with my manager and was told that I would be among the affected employees. Official notification date is May 17 so at least my boss acted with humility and gave me an early warning. Best of luck to everyone!
You will never see a company advertise that are an at will employer and will fire you at the drop of a dime. Companies will advertise they are family friendly, great work life balance and in a community with great schools and great quality of life. But now you have id--ts here saying at will employment. For older workers it’s no secret what can happen but for younger workers it can be devastating. People should read this thread before joining Qualcomm in the future to better understand the culture… and the underlying racist tone… it sad but I see it everyday working here
@OP, what was the outcome of the meeting?
I don't think some people here understand the meaning of at at will employment, and for people with visa or house or children, nobody forced that onto you,
Be happy you never know a natural calamity or accident might take more than what a layoff or recession can take away from you.
Life is a videogame and Earth is just level 1.
@hts-1mw2TDRN are you a Q employee and calling yourself d-mb? If you're not a Q employee, why are you socializing here? To meet like minded people?
I think the best thing is to move all of Qualcomm to India and leave just the sales office in San Diego and Bay Area. Most caucasians are lazy anyway and think they are the brilliant with only marketing education
Some comments show how stupid Qualcomm workers are! It’s has nothing to do with the H1B program… some people living in SD today will be forced to sell their house and relocate their children from school whether they are H1B or not! To say it’s just a job is a mentally ill statement. Please seek help for mental illness it’s real and you got it
You come overseas and work for pennies. You pay taxes and receive no benefits. Your only hope is one day to be freed. In the old days, we used to call it slavery, but nowadays it's called the H1B program. Things never change.

If you are forced to leave the US, it's because there is no longer a need for you. That is the nature of the H1B program, which you signed up for.
The H1B visa is not a guarantee of a green card or citizenship. I am sorry (but not sorry) that you may have to leave.
As for those who did not save enough money, SEs get paid above market across the board. If you did not save enough you lived beyond your means and did not save appropriately.
But, for H1Bs, you have no sympathies: you take jobs that should go to Americans at wages below commensurate for your position. That you are kicked to the curb and sent home is a sign that you get to experience the worst of capitalism that was experienced by those you displaced.
It’s not just a job! It’s my life! Some people will be forced to leave to US! Some people will be forced to relocate their children from their friends and schools! Some people will not get hired at the same position or same pay! Some older people will have a hard time ever finding a job again! And some people have no savings and live paycheck to paycheck with no future paychecks coming in! To you it’s a job - to others it’s a drastic lifestyle change!!
Yes, it's just a job. But it can also be a chaos if you are not well prepared mentally and financially. Often times it's quite tough. Good luck!
Please put down the anxiety pipe. You can find something better even if it happened. It is just a job.
