Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

More layoffs in Jerusalem

Extent not fully known, at least a few more dozens in various lines.

Seems inevitable, we all realize Synamedia is a ghost ship on steroids. Still sad to watch even from the outside.

Sic transit gloria mundi, hail to the thieves...

Based on the approval votes in the Staines/IL b1tchfight here, I’d say that Staines is winning hands down :-) :-)

Unless you are on Sky re-e, you are dead in the water.
Btw When was the last time a winning idea came out of the company, let alone a region ?

While everyone is squabbling, Haifa is probably emptying our bank accounts ;-)

Staines and Israel; please play nicely, children. I think we can all agree that the true heart of NDS was to be found in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

And before anyone butts in to ask about Lawrenceville - I got there first, you intellectual pygmies!

ps Chandlers Ford, Schmandlers Ford
PPS and hello India. You’re actually the future.
PPS bye now

Have seen a number or promotions appearing in the last few days that haven't been announced, incredible when people are losing jobs at the same time.

Native English speaker here. That post about “line” was bang on. I’d start brushing up on standard business terminology if I were you - you might need it for your next gig.

Staines? Are you being serious?

They're systems integrators or hired warm-body typists at best.
There is no invention, no creativity, no soul.

Jerusalem is where the ideas are made. You are nothing without us.

Lol lol lol “The core of this company is the IL office” .
The quality of software that has come out of that hole has been terrible for decades. Nothing but hackers.

The core of the company is in the Staines office, as it’s proximity is close to Sky. It is the one part of the business that makes money and why the team received their bonus at the beginning of the year.

Approved. That’s what you meant, right?

Challenging the use of our names for things is embarrassing, as it shows you are not a true part of this company. It is well known that the core of the company is the IL office and that the staff there are the real value proposition. The other regions should learn their humility and realise that they are nothing without us and they exist only to sell our work. If they fail to sell it then they will be sacked.

These are difficult truths but the executive need to learn them and treat us with respect.

People have been saying "line" for over 25 years in this company. There is zero chance anyone in HR or Comms has any knowledge of our history

Either HR or Internal Communications, I'm tempted to go with Internal Comms as they have no idea what is truly happening in the company and it's their job to spread propaganda to the employees. HR (talent attraction) deal with public facing propaganda by commissioning fake reviews for Glassdoor.

My introduction to this site, like many others, was in the Cisco era. This place was our Single Source Of Truth, remember the salary details that kept being leaked? Anyway I wonder if the headcount is now so low that this site is irrelevant. It's not really used by our Indian colleagues, even when our colleague, Ravindra Kumar in Chennai, died of Covid. The company generously donated a £6 tree in Scotland in his memory then royally screwed his wife. It was a national scandal in India but nothing was posted here on Layoff.

Is this Syna HR correcting english use of "line"?

Why do people use "line" to refer to a department? This isn't standard English usage.

In the term "line manager", "line" is an adjective, not a noun. There is no "line".

It would make as much sense to refer to a "senior" as a group of people managed by a "senior manager".

Please, work on this. It makes you sound foolish.
