Thread regarding Amazon.com layoffs

I am worried about the future

Some try to comfort me by saying that it is possible to find an even better job if a person has skills. Is that really so?
Luckily I have some savings because I don't think getting a new job will be easy at all given the current state of the industry.

What's there to worry about? Leave Amazon, work elsewhere. Duh. It's not like you won't be the first person to do that.

If you are not a OPT/H1b, you have nothing to worry.

Worst case still can earn over 4k a month from Uber driver, Costco, Fred Meyer and others.

500k to 1 million salary is dream over!!!

Hi, I have been through the dot com and 2008 house crashes. This is what I believe:

  1. if you need a job to pay bills, you may pursue contract opportunities until the dust settles probably in 2024.
  1. I believe more junior follks will have a hard time justifying high paying jobs in the foreseeable future. In addition, given AI advancenents, it seems the increase in supply of labor is imminent.

Keep calm. It will be fine. Budget accordingly.
