Thread regarding 3M layoffs

6,000 layoffs

From what I've seen 3M is laying off sales force, talent acquisition, and some business transformation roles. So is the plan to stop selling product, stop hiring/recruiting students, and pause BT for the rest of the manufacturing plants who haven't transitioned yet?

BT will not only pause but will stop.

Think AI and the whole economy/technology transformation. Do customers really need all these reps? Will they even have enough workforce that can benefit from it? Does 3M issue any certificates after any training? Well, automation is coming and as always Vanguard and Blackrock corporations will survive as there are no other option in the world. At the end who cares about reps or even the brand name such as 3M. It is time to get rid off divisions that will not be needed in the future.

3M dumped the golf course some years ago, under pressure from activist investors who went after Dupont for owning a hotel, golf course, and theater. Meanwhile, these some activists take a handsome slice of the proceeds from investors and buy more yachts and country club memberships for the extended family.

3M getting rid of tartan was one of the many blunders under Inge, though not as bad as borrowing billions to goose the shares to 259, before mike imploded things to where one more bad legal ruling and it's under 100.

Yes, but for those who remain, we will be expected to continue these responsibilities without additional pay or level increases. We should all just be grateful we have jobs, right? Isn’t 3M selling a golf course and a cabin? That should bridge the gap for a while.
