I can only speak for the team that I am in and I cannot speak for all teams. I am a part of a small-ish team of about 10 people (which is a part of a much larger team). Hiring was frozen a few months ago. We had a few team members leave over the past year or so and only half of them were replaced. They froze hiring before we could fill the rest. There is a TON of work. We are barely able to meet deadlines as a result. If there is further reduction in headcount, then deliverables will be severely impacted. If upper management is naive enough to get rid of more people, then they will only be shooting themselves on the foot further. I see numbers like 20% and 1500 employees in US being thrown around. Who will do the work if there is such a large headcount reduction?

I could see 1500 layoffs US and 10K layoffs India with no loss in productivity.
2000 lay offs in USA is easily done and should be done
If your division is not profitable they just scrap everything, no project for your group.
Remaining folks will not have other choice. They need to work long hours or move out. There is no other way.
