Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Salary

I used to think CEO assumes a lot of responsibilities so receiving a high pay is fair. However, after I found out US president got under $600,000 per year, I started wondering whether $32 millions per year makes sense or not.

I don't know if the following 2 new policies came from our CEO or not,

  1. Stopped WD stock dividend. I lost desire for holding WD stock in long term.
  2. Stopped accrued vacation hours. I had a strange feeling while I was working hard and see others take vacation frequently.

US presidents make million through various activities, kick backs, $400,000 thirty minute speeches. Even after presidency they make money off of their connection. Some presidents have sons that make sh---y art and sell for millions. Point being, presidents make millions per year.

As for the CEO, their salary is suppose to reflect their strategic skills, their ability to have dog and pony shows, and potential to leverage their political connections through favors and bribery. Oops, of course that doesn't happen >.>

Add to these, new policy starting last Dec ESPP purchase, employees don't get a few more shares if the ESPP look-ahead price is lower; they will not allow employees to purchase more shares than was predicted when they locked-in the two year look-ahead price. Of 'course we are all aware of no more STI as well, and more health care benefit cuts maybe in the works!
One must wonder if these are all the same policies that Cisco instituted after their lackluster performance since the heydays of the pre 2000 $80 stock price? It seems very suspicious how much input Gecko (and the rest of the losers from Cisco) had in instituting all these here in WD. Stay tuned!
