Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Any actual layoff info?

Does anyone share actual layoff information on this site? I know layoffs must be actually happening and I'm coming to this site in hopes of learning some of the details, but all I see posted is everything except actual layoff information. If you know of any actual layoffs taking place,, please share some details so we can all be informed.

Yes, I ditto that.

PowerPoint slides from that group never helped to grow any business. But hey, same argument can be made for the big honchos at the top too.

SMD always seemed like an unnecessary group. Sucks for those impacted, but don’t think much value was lost other than fewer Carlson MBAs working at 3M.

Overall OUS has been affected much more than US this time.

In TTS there are just under 300 being reduced, including 1 executive whose last day already was today.

I personally know impacted individuals. They have also received the list of impacted roles for their org/area. One list included a Director, process leaders, a handful of Sr. Mgrs/managers, a few middle career mid JG roles and quite a few lower graded (8-10) analysts.

Compared to the number of impacts announced for the org, notifications today were much less than that number and speculating “might” that might be indicative of more OUS impacts than US for this particular org.

Those impacted are taking time to understand what has happened. Still in shock. They are quietly reaching out to their trusted network to talk and processing the pile of paperwork with fine print that comes with the action. Grief works in cycles and some aren’t ready to talk, let alone come out here to vent.

As the other response said, much of the aftermath is unfolding on LinkedIn where impacted folks can actively engage with a network and move on next steps. I’ve seen a few announcements and new open to work badges in the last 12 hours.

Layoffs are happening. It is real. People are already posting in LinkedIn about it. You can see real names and titles.
