Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Q3 2027 Earnings Call Update

Mike and Monish are the only 2 remaining 3M employees. The plants have been shuttered for a year, 3M's brand has gone the way of Sears/GE and most manufacturing assets have been sold to companies in Vietnam or the Philippines. Wonewok was purchased by a waterpark headquartered in the Wisconsin Dells and has been transformed into go-karts and water slides, with an upside-down white house slated for construction in 2029. All 3M roofs have been reduced except for a plastic pop-up garden shed alongside I94 where Board of Directors meetings are conducted.

Mike announces a 1500 person layoff to streamline, increase efficiencies, and position for the future. Stock closes the day up 0.07%.

With everything going on, I needed this laugh. The part that got me going was the mention of Wonewok being purchased by a company out of Wisconsin Dells, and the upside down White House.

I think tireman will survive the cuts since he is getting M&M boys free Starbucks and they have 3 barristas working at the 220 lobby just for them.

Tireman will still be spending millions on Kearney to determine if all the fixed costs have been stripped.

In one, last, heroic effort to save 3M Mike announces the layoff of Monish. However, the severance package is more than the entirety of 3M's market cap. Blaming macro headwinds, and the lingering effects of covid, 3M;s future is bleak.
