Thread regarding 3M layoffs

6000 jobs, 6000 families ruined.

Never forget that the people losing their jobs have to go home to their family. This isn't a joke - these people aren't a statistic that boost your profits by $900 million. These are real people with real dreams and families.

Your incompetence as a leadership is what caused this suffering and the continued suffering of those affected.

YOU should take the responsibility.
YOU should take the brunt of the layoffs.
YOU are cowards.

Stop hiding behind your pointless town halls and take responsibility.

5999 or less, cause you don't speak for me, this is not going to ruin me.

As 1 of the 6000, I plan on doing better than I did at 3M (which was quite good). I saw this coming, knew this was going to hit the team I work for (PFAS heavy). I made alternative plans and spent the past month just waiting for the severance offer. I can now move forward to my next phase, where I forecast to double my 3M pay in 2 years. So don't count me as one of the ruined, I plan on thriving.

Yes this will hurt many and change is not easy, but not all of the 6000 will be ruined. If you were good enough to land a job at 3M, you have value to others. 3M the company may be broken and failing, but is a management issue. In the market 3Mers are seen as intelligent, hardworking, and ethical, we have value on the open market.

To all of my fellow 6000 (and those who get hit on the next rounds), remember YOU are the item of value, 3M just can't afford you any more. Go out there and be of value to the next Job and get what your worth. Don't get sucked down in self pity or anger at 3M, it's not healthy or productive. By now you should be past the shock, and moving past the disappointment stage, now move on to making the next phase of your life better. Lets make the amount of people "ruined" by this 0 not 6000

Couple nepotism :

Yep, plenty at 3M.

Husband is a president and was posted on EBT duty in an Asian country. Wife was a mid career technical person working in the corporate labs. When husband got the EBT, wife suddenly got promoted and started a project manager job in the Asian country which was a newly created role for her. Mind it the new role had nothing to do with her background or with what she was doing.

Just think about that for a moment. An irrelevant but very well paying job for you so that you can Join your husband on an EBT......nepotism galore in this company.

@ycb+1mlZvLDv, this is a failure to diversify their incomes. No doubt there are a lot of "couples" that have been made at 3M, hence the never-ending nepotism. I know of a great couple, really good people, but professionally the wife is a CBG leader, and the husband is a dolt that spends more time golfing than working. The only reason he still has a job is the connections his wife made.

Sorry to hear that the poster above was affected by this mess at 3M. It’s a big and scary change for a family. I don’t feel immune to being cut any day and I know it would be a scary time for me and my family / until the new job is landed. And the reality is we may have to change our lifestyle to fit a new budget . These changes are impactful ! Be empathetic ❤️

Oh, calm down. 6,000 families were not ruined. If having a job at 3M is the only thing that keeps your family together, then you have bigger problems.

There are quite a few couples (dating, committed, married) that work at 3M. Households could lose ALL income in these actions.

The Sr. Mgrs/Directors/ VP’s married to each other aren’t likely looking over their backs given the lack of leadership that has been impacted in the past.

So sick of hearing about macro headwinds and other BS. I have yet to hear one leader say that they messed up. They made the wrong decisions. They lead us down this path. Instead, it’s more of the same. A truly sad state of affairs.
