Years of layoffs and labor relations issues with employees, low pay, sweatshop hours-Dst management is the most despised and complained about group in the city's history

The reason for layoffs and low merit increases is lack of profit due to low IQ management. Yes the local home grown management that did not understand sub-accounting and gave clients contracts that allowed them to process hundreds of thousands of accounts, while only paying a fee equal to 1 shareholder account! Management didn't keep current or understand the industry changes. Also down time refunds in addition to the other contract mistakes. A home grown sales team that had no real securities experience. Sales team comprised of staff that didn't really fit into any other jobs at DST and could hide their faults. DST could have been wildly successful and alive today, paying huge wages to all had we had the correct management team. Relying on a bunch of local guys who graduated from the local college on Troost Avenue was a poor business plan. Look what it did for DST!

I had to laugh when I saw this topic. Merit increases? Do people here really think your direct manager tracks or remembers the work you do and extra hours you put in, then tries to reward and repay your efforts by carefully calculating and giving you a merit increase that is equal to what you have accomplished? Thats what a merit increase is. Merit increases do not happen at DST.

The people running Dst have serious personality disorders. They lie, blame others, have low intelligence and expect to be respected.

At DST, it appears your manager decides the first week if they love or hate you. Your career depends on the first week,

Loud quitting is the new trend. Check it out on the internet. People who are angry about being mistreated at work do damage on the way out when they quit. Like deleting files or tossing important items needed for running a place. Wonder if this is happening here?

I received a 4% raise. In spite of me slacking off and doing only the very bare minimum work. Lots of people here are doing quiet quitting. We do just enough to get by. What can DST do anyway? Fire us? They need us!

James Taylor sang a song in the early 1970's. A phrase in the song was "they will take your soul if you let them".

This describes DST Systems Inc exactly.

Dst was a sweatshop. The managers were literally blind. Managers had no people skills. Managers were rude. Many employees were treated in very hateful ways. I kept sending unsigned interoffice correspondence in the brown mail envelopes to my manager's boss. Stating that my manager did not like him and bad mouthed him. It stunted my managers career path and I left for greener pastures

I had a contact who offered me a new job in 3 months. I signed up. Then spent my last 3 months screwing up processes and client deadlines and lost documents. I knew they would not fire me. Then in 3 months of ja--ing dst around, I quit. Ha!

DST has long been a company that gave poor raises that were below inflation rate. And since its financial industry firm, the employees know that. so they dont work as hard, and they feel unappreciated and know they would have received a better raise at another place. so its very unmotivational.

No secret club for promotions. But what helps is being a rockhurst college graduate, donating a large portion of your pay automatically to the United way charity. Dating a manager or vice president and being attractive really skyrockets you ahead.

They did not support their employees very well. This was a very poor company to work for. The provided little or no way to advance your careers. From what I saw, you had to be a member of some secret club to advance.

Dude I worked with long ago was mad about his small raises. and the fact the Group VP would hire new people from outside the company to be the manager of his smaller applications support group, passing him over for the manager job several times. So he mailed his Group VP a dead mouse. Would have loved to have seen the look on that guys face when he opened up the box!

Managers give small raises to their areas workers, so there is more dollars left over for their raise! They basically get rewarded for giving you a tiny raise

I knew a gal that consistently received 0% raises each year. She was hired to work in mutual fund client services, failed at it, and transferred to H.R. department where she was part of the cigarette smoking ceasation program offered by DST. I mean it seemed like a lame job offering advice how to quit. Silly the way DST spent their $$$ of stuff

I agree with the comment that a person's attractiveness had alot to do with their advancement at DST Systems. Advancement is based on favoritism. So if your born attractive you get the attention and advancement. If you were not born attractive then you had a harder time getting ahead. DST was run like a modelling agency- looks mattered. Plain people were silently angry they were ignored just because the management was so shallow. They worked insulted each minute of the day, knowing they were 2nd or 3rd class even though their work was 1st class. And immoral employees that had relationships with managers got sky rocketing advancement at every chance. That immoral behavior was tolerated and really chapped my hide.

Dst is managed by simps. If your attractive, You get better pay increases. It's all about appearances.

I left DST. I was an exempt salaried employee. I put in 2 extra hours each day. Thats 25% more over the standard 8 hour day. It was unpaid. By the end of each year I would have made 25% more had I been on a hourly basis. But all was not lost. I received a generous $25 Plaza gift car at year end. Wow! That cost DST about $2.00 a month over the year. Thats 50 cents a week! Or a dime a day! What a thankless company!

I think your %merit largely has to due with your supervisor and what part of the company you work for. Some departments may have more $$ allocated towards the merit increases than others. Different departments and different budgets

I got a big merit increase as well and I was never at the bottom of the pay range. I know so for I seen other people's paychecks of the same tenure with the company. What bothers me is I know some people that been here 5+ years and are making BELOW the current starting pay. The starting pay for my department is $18.50-$25/hr and some of my friends that been here years and years are still making under $17.

If you received a large raise, such as 10%, then it is certain you are at the bottom of the pay range for your job title. The range moved up, and they had to give you a larger raise to keep you in the range. Rest assured your peers make more than you.

I was amazed that a development manager of an assembly language group got raises constantly even thought she was drunk at work often. Guess her staff covered for her...

Dont forget that your raise could be effected by the anti semitism that was at DST.

Pay increase? How about a co-worker being able to fly 1st class, stay in 5 star hotels, get easy assignments due to the manager liking her? Instead of a raise she gets nice perks!
