After almost 18 years with the company (Motorola -> Arris -> CommScope), I've been informed that Friday is my last day. Company wide layoffs have begun.

Those severanced consider yourself lucky and you will eventually celebrate because you are out of there and you got a severance. When the debt collectors come and they file bankruptcy those left behind and to foll!sh to leave get nothing.
Yeah CS won’t go after many 40 with most 50+ with a few tokens tossed in <40 to keep from getting sued again.
Watch your state unemployment they will tell you them were let go bc of “not enough work”, not they were effing !d!otss and don’t have a clue as to what are doing.
Do you reply all till next week, doing that now is stupid since those severanced and now free of CS bullsht had last days of tomorrow and the AD account prob will not be deactivated immediately so give it till next Tuesday. The # let go will be in the sev agreement signed and plus CS has been guilty of age discrimination in the past.
It certainly isn't the case that "most" of HN is out. Sounds like folks with low information are just guessing.
From the people I know of that got laid off it's individuals, not whole teams. Certain people associated with certain customer accounts are getting let go, as those customer accounts appear to being deprioritized.

I don’t think that’s the case. Doing “reply all” on some catch-all emails didn’t turn up any “invalid” accounts. So “most” is likely exaggerated.

See tingle is in the room, 20 weeks is not bad?!! Originally capped at 52 weeks for ARRIS, then capped at 26 weeks two years ago and now down to 20. Greedy disgraceful leadership.

Arris gave 2 weeks a year, not 4
20 weeks of severance for 18 years.that is literally just over 1 week a year .yikes!! .considering any good company would have given at least 4 weeks per year i.e.Arris .speaks volumes about where we sit with all the debt and slt getting huge bonuses..

20 weeks of severance for 18 years of service. That is not too bad, although a lot less generous than Arris severance used to be.

Hard working employees are now paying the price for management's bad call; using huge leverage to buy a company which they are now driving into the ground.
idk that anyone is gonna be better off in this job market. been looking for months. it's insane.
I was with CS almost 15 years when they did the same to me and others on my team. It was a stressful time and those of us living close met and treated finding a new job as a full time job. We also used as a therapy session to vent to each other. We all found new jobs within 5 weeks after receiving the “business updates” email. To be honest I do still miss it, but prob more missing the relationships built over the years here and abroad. Those impacted will be better off in the end. I will certainly pray for you all.
