Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Best of the best?

I remember when macys kept only " the best of the best" after covid hit. and how they sold this idea to everyone still left in the store..

Just wondering how the " best of the best" doing since ISM launched ? economy crashing . end of the dollar .,lack of leadership , gossiping , lack of any direction , ceo exiting , shoplifter paradise, holes in parking lots, no time to finish anything, overloaded workload, nonstop complaining customers, stealing AP, district walk thru clowns who are useless, lack of merchandise , The best of the best left the building when covid hit.. what was left is the cult of macys club in which the true talent didn't belong to in the first place.. glad to hear the cult leader is on his way out..

After the furlough, many tenured colleagues were offered severance simply because our all of our People Leaders /management were from BELK DEPARTMENT STORE. It was easy to rid themselves of those who spoke up when procedures and policies weren’t being adhered to. They simply didn’t want to be challenged on making MACY’S , a store operating on BELK’s broken policies and procedures . And now 3 years later no continuity no one coaches the new colleagues it’s a HOT mess. Managers avoid directing and training colleagues because they don’t know or get the MACY’s way if doing things providing great customer service. The tenured colleagues were rooted and grounded in customer service and wanted to stay true to Macy’s policies and procedures. Now you have colleagues struggling because the examples of MACYS foundation is gone ,not valued because of emotions and politics. That’s all I have to say about that .

At my store, the Customer Experience Sales Associates are treated better than the General Sales Associates. They go from department to department and register to register looking for customers to ring out because when they make their sales goal they can get a bonus. They don’t have to clean fitting rooms, clear rails, and do closing shifts. About 6 months ago when these positions were new and available, they were picked by management and no one else got to interview for them.

Macys reminds me of New York City, I used to go all the time but now it’s just gross. Clothes all over the floor and people using the fitting rooms to do dr-gs. Yep sounds like New York City lol.

“so during covid it was a vote to get rid of the people they didn't like?”

Yes

My Store Manager said verbatim “this is the time to get rid of people we don’t like.” Managers voted on who should go which ended up being the most tenured people. Now we have a revolving door of new hires and the leadership team are all exhausted and d-mbfounded as to what possibly could have gone wrong.

The last comment seems true. And now, since managers assign where you are going to work each day because of ISM, they still base their decisions on favorites and preferences. When managers work this way, they cause their own problems.
