Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

MORE UP AND COMING WAYFAIR LAYOFFS IN THE PIPELINE EXPECTATION AROUND MID JUNE

PREVIOUS OP HERE FROM THE LAST ALERT I AM WARNING YOU AGAIN EARLY SO THAT YOU CAN START TO PREPARE. EXPECTING 1200 EMPLOYEES ACROSS EUROPE AND US, CFO IS PUSHING FOR THIS AND WILL BE A HOT TOPIC IN THE NEXT UP AND COMING EARNINGS CALL ON 22 MAY. NIRAJ EXPECTED THAT THE LAST ROUND OF LAYOFFS WOULD HAVE HAD A POSITIVE EFFECT ON THE SHARE PRICE AND THE BUSINESS OVERALL BUT IT IS NOT PROVING EFFICIENT ENOUGH AND THEY ARE STRUGGLING TO RAISE FURTHER CAPITAL WITHOUT SACRIFICE. EXPECT MORE OF OUR COLLEAGUES TO A RANDOM SELECTION RIF. THIS IS NOT A DRILL

They ended up locally announcing the closure and consolidation of some HDO's. I think 4 or 5 of them.

kinda feel like this OP could be BS... in EU anyway we haven't heard anything and with the email from Niraj I can't see them laying off more people this month at least

It’s already 9am Eastern time and everyone is checking their emails because of this rumor. More people seem to be aware of this than last time so if this rumor is true I wonder how they’ll bring that up after the CEO just sent an email few days ago saying there won’t be more lay off ( which was off of him to bring it up)

Like they would tell us anyways...everyone is already looking as the company itself is unstable. They wouldn't tell us to create mass hysteria.

KG forgot to mention that they are looking forward to voluntary attrition while they are moving dev teams to India. Leave on time if you can.

Did KG make a legally binding statement? I’m not even sure if that’s something than can happen in an all-hands, but if not, then I am not sure why they would ever say a layoff is likely until the day it happens.

EU All Hands:
A direct question was asked in the Slido re RIF.
KG answered and firmly said no more RIFs this year.
Does that mean 100% no layoffs.... no of course not
However it likely means Mr/Ms CAPSLOCK is off base for now.

Hey ppl....

Just a regular worker here but I think that anyone that believes that no more layoffs are going to happen need to have a quick think to themselves.

Your expendable. That's an ugly thing to think/hear about but surely true in this line of work we have. Alot larger companies are dropping people like nothing. You think a struggling company like Wayfair won't do the same?

We all know people who who lost jobs in the last RIF who actually believed in the ppl principles that Wayfair claim to follow. To this day I can't get over how I'm still working and they let go of the cult members who actually loved the company.

Just check out the management who sold shares after the last RIF...its easily checkable online....but chill...job losses pain them, don't trust me, trust them.

Stop the loyalty, look after yourselves and your family if possible. Your just a number.

Best of luck and and jump before those **ckers push you for a quick profit. You owe them nothing.

Thanks for shopping with Wayfair....

  1. X

The Q1 Wayfair Earnings call was on May 4th of this year not May 22nd. Not sure how reputable the OP is here…

After the last layoffs, in an all hands someone asked why they never addressed the rumors that had been going around. The response from CEO was that he was disappointed in his leaders for leaking info, so I doubt they would leak any now, as Wayfair probably has things in place now to figure out who did it and fire them

Can we just get the date and know what level(s) will be impacted? If you know the department(s) that would be even better. I appreciate the heads up but we need more info.

If Wayfair offers a severance package, they can get away without the WARN act. They did this last time too.

L3, L4, L6 are positions that if needed could be eliminated simply because they are redundant. L2 can report directly to an L5 and teams of 20+ L1’s are manageable. What needs to go are the redundant forms, ‘stupid’ compliance rules and meetings about unimportant topics! JMHO

Unless Niraj or Steve find $340 million down the back of the sofa before next Q results, the signs are all there for another batch of layoffs.
Not that any of the C-suite are concerned about it anyway based on the volume of share dumping that's been going on for some time now.
But I suppose that's what you get when you actively external hire rather than promote from within. Some amazingly knowledgeful people dropped in the last 2 rounds, leaving others without the skills or drive to step up.
Let's see how the algorithim impacts this time round

They are doing “day in the life” study of L2 managers, and one of the questions, (which they had many weird ones sprinkled in) is asking how we provide return on investment for our time as a L2 .

Seems like they are trying to find where they can squeeze more and remove some L2s

I don't think we have confirmation that it's happening. Definitely not a definitive date as far as I'm aware.

Next round will be focused on L2s. They are training the L1s to become team leads and they will replace all L2s.

I left Wayfair willingly a few months ago. (L2 role that was told far too much by L5+ friends who got laid off)
I 100% guarantee all of Wayfair will be in the Philippines and India by the end of the year. Get out while you can. There is life after Wayfair and you don't realize how micromanagey and toxic that place is until you leave

NA service L2’s and L3’s being hit hard replacing all L2’s with hourly slimming back L3’s to a handful. Announcement today about team leads taking over all L2 was intentional. They want as many who can leave to leave for new jobs.to see the writing on the wall. Less to RIF.

Merit increases are rolling out across the entirety of the organization across all roles and will be shared May 8th - So this wouldnt be a good determiner in who will be impacted. Its BAU until its not.

fwiw there won't be a WARN act ahead of time if they do what they announce the layoffs but keep the affected employees on payroll for ~8 weeks, similar to the January RIF. That said, we'll know better in a week after the EC.

Checked Massachusetts WARN Act filings through 4/23 - nothing listed for Wayfair so, window for a June layoff round, at least for US teams, is closing quickly. Reorgs have thrown some loops for a lot of groups but, I wouldn't say chaos. EU could possibly be targets but they've also been expanding warehousing in the UK quite recently. Earnings call will definitely offer more clues though if something is in the pipeline.
