So it is clear to me that some of the negative comments that have been posted in response to this thread have clearly originated from either our HR department or senior execs. What sadens me is a complete denial of UK employment law by the people running this company.
I am extremely confident that anyone taking legal action against Synamedia about the bonus situation will win for two reasons. Firstly, for all the decades that I've worked for NDS/Cisco/Synamedia, the company has always paid an annual bonus, therefore this sets a precedent. Secondly, as the person who started this thread quite rightly pointed out, at the point the company sent letters to all employees detailing the bonus amount and the month this would be paid, this became a contractual obligation.
Here in the UK we have a company wide meeting scheduled this afternoon to provide an update about the business. All I can say is, if the CEO skirts over the subject of the bonus like he did in the last such meeting then this will trigger a tsunami of litigations against Synamedia. I would strongly suggest anyone doing this clubs together to keep legal costs down.
My view about Synamedia is that it really is game over. We sell complex bespoke products that require constant maintenance and support. If you were one of our potential clients then would you really invest in us if there is any chance of us failing in the next couple of years. I don't think so.
