Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

Bonus newsflash

For those not keeping up with the issue date of payslips.
There's no bonus payment in the April pay.

Having been strung along by the disingenuous cretin for over 6 months now, there's really no choice but to start legal action against the company for breach of contract.
The bonus was discretionary, but once the notification of how much and when it would be paid came out that became a contract and no amount of weaseling avoids that.

@2ikz
Dr.Ken was CTO during the Cisco Circus years, under CC the Clown's laughable leadership.
It was Cisco that ki-led the innovation, filled the group with lots of expensive Cisco deadwood, destroyed morale and turned customers against us.
Dr.Ken has an excellent pedigree and above all, is a man of integrity.
I always believed NT was a man of integrity, until he laid off staff to bring his cronies in from Inmarsat.

I recall that in 2008(?) the bonus was paid to staff but not to directors or above

“Ah, Dr. Ken. Amazing how many of the leaders don't even know who that is, which is symbolic of how they don't know anything about our business.

And I doubt any of them have ever even heard of Abe.“

What’s the love in with Ken? Under his leadership we should have been working on hyperscale .instead with lived off Sky monies and stopped innovating.
As for Abe, he is tarnished with the current shot show

Which year(s) did we not get a bonus? I joined NDS in 2002. I remember Cisco skipping midyear bonuses, but never annual, and I don't recall NDS ever skipping, but I'm old!

"Firstly, for all the decades that I've worked for NDS/Cisco/Synamedia, the company has always paid an annual bonus" - this is absolutely not true - employee of NDS++ for 22 years.

From their website... "that only specialises in this areas" they clearly don't specialise in grammar or proof reading.

Why on Earth would Permira sanction a bonus with the performance they have witnessed?

The company is running at a loss with last year's (2022) reported loss at £34,600,000.
(Ex)CMO failed to sell anything despite spending a small fortune on recruiting random VPs, global Sales' conferences, trade shows, fake awards.
(Ex)CFO failed to control costs despite creating lots of top jobs for his (Ex)Finastra mates.
(Ex)CIO failed at pretty much everything, creating a multi million pound legal problem at Chandler's Ford.
(Ex)EVP failed to produce a Security product that could be legally used by the customer.
CTO who continues to waste large amounts of Permira cash on the failed HyperFail project. How we miss DrKen!
CPO who fails to treat us with any respect, either personally in the office or via the SynaMeet propoganda meetings.
CEO who fails to be credible.

Unfortunately, the law in both America and Israel is on the side of Synamedia. I really hope our UK friends can force the company to behave honorably, although they'd probably have to first explain to management what "honor" means!

So it is clear to me that some of the negative comments that have been posted in response to this thread have clearly originated from either our HR department or senior execs. What sadens me is a complete denial of UK employment law by the people running this company.

I am extremely confident that anyone taking legal action against Synamedia about the bonus situation will win for two reasons. Firstly, for all the decades that I've worked for NDS/Cisco/Synamedia, the company has always paid an annual bonus, therefore this sets a precedent. Secondly, as the person who started this thread quite rightly pointed out, at the point the company sent letters to all employees detailing the bonus amount and the month this would be paid, this became a contractual obligation.

Here in the UK we have a company wide meeting scheduled this afternoon to provide an update about the business. All I can say is, if the CEO skirts over the subject of the bonus like he did in the last such meeting then this will trigger a tsunami of litigations against Synamedia. I would strongly suggest anyone doing this clubs together to keep legal costs down.

My view about Synamedia is that it really is game over. We sell complex bespoke products that require constant maintenance and support. If you were one of our potential clients then would you really invest in us if there is any chance of us failing in the next couple of years. I don't think so.

The UK legal advice I’ve had, is that once it’s written down and a date of payment provided, It’s no longer discretionary and now legally binding. If the hobbit tries to gloss over it, I will be informing HR tomorrow that I wish to receive payment and should they not pay it - then off to the employment tribunal we go!
Let’s face it the company is drowning and I’m happy to stand on its head

Why were you surprised? It was said in Feb that he would come back with an update in April … do you think they would pay the bonus without telling people? Work it out …
