Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Do we have a corporate jet and how do I track where it is?

I am assuming this is public info. Thank you.

With the stock price so low and massive layoffs ,let the exec team fly Southwest or better yet Greyhound bus

They were all in use during Masters golf week. :-( What a waste of shareholder money, you can't convince me that this expense is more important than all the jobs that have been and will be cut. Sends such a tone deaf message to everyone....

I think that 3M is just down to the three jets at the moment. As I wrote, at one point they had as many as seven in the hangars.

If 3M has others, they don't appear to have flown at all this year. If anyone can confirm that others are still active, please let me know.

Unless they lost some, there are 5 G550s. I have a photo in the hangar at Holman.

Confirming that 3M has the 3 jets above. They used to have 2 G280’s (N23M and N33M if I recall correctly from when they opened the hangar to the Neon group). Both look to be sold or no longer leased due to them not being in St. Paul ever.

Anyone can track if they’d like. I do it for fun and highly recommend the OpenADSB and RadarBox apps. OpenADSB you can query based on tail numbers. You can then look at the RadarBox app (doesn’t have total numbers, only GPS locations). Between the 2 apps, you can see where they’re flying to.

Source- I follow the OpenADSB and radar box frequently

These Gulfstream jets are underutilized assets. The cost to operate and maintain them is ridiculous. It's time to sell the jets and invest the money in something with a better ROI. Get Mike Roman a Net Jets subscription so he can travel privately with his security team. If Net Jets is good enough for Warren Buffet, it's good enough for Mike. The rest of the executives can fly Southwest.

Why isn't this squadron of jets part of the cost cutting plan?

To my knowledge, 3M currently operates three corporate jets. The knowledge is officially public, but 3M and most other companies deliberately try to obfuscate it through shell companies and bank trusts.

Known current 3M tail numbers:
N73M - Gulfstream V
N83M - Gulfstream V
N93M - Gulfstream G650

All three are based in 3M's hangars at Holman Field in downtown St. Paul. (Building 690)

In the past 3M has leased a two or thee Gulfstream G280s, but I think, not 100% sure, they were disposed of during Covid. They did not have the '3M' tail numbers. At one point 3M had an active fleet of 7 jets.

As part of hiding of data, 3M has all the jets as part of the LADD program with the FAA. That will keep their details off most flight trackers. The best way I know of to track them is through adsbexchange which ignores the FAA database limitations.

To track:

  • Go to: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/
  • In the search bar type in the tail number.
  • If the plane is currently in the air, it will be shown.
  • If is not in the air, you can click on the "history" button on the left side and look back in time. Note that the times shown are all in UTC or 'Zulu' time - 5 hours ahead of US Central daylight time.

If anyone else knows tail numbers of 3M aircraft (current or former), let me know and I can track interesting movements for those as well.
