Yep, another quarterly report and the losses continue...

"Wall Street expects only narrow profits in the second half of the year, which are expected to leave Boeing with an annual loss for the fifth-straight year."

Unless Boeing can start selling airplanes for more than it costs them to manufacture them, can't see Boeing continuing this business. And with ultra low cost China entering the commercial airplane business and SpaceX already owning the space business, can't see Boeing being competitive, period. Seems like if you still work at Boeing, you might want to quickly find another way to put food on your table and stop debating about future contracts as Boeing clearly doesn’t have a good future. Nepotism has ki-led many a company and Boeing won't be the last.

Guys- it is my understanding that the Union sold you out. Not your Union brothers and sisters. They voted over holiday, and the vote was going to eliminate the pension fund. Period. And it did. BTW- you know that shiny (empty, unproductive) composite wing center- paid for with your pension fund. The more you know! P.S. Yes to nepotism at the Lazy B. "It's not what you know, it's who you know". And the more managers I meet, the more I'm like: yep, makes sense. People who know NOTHING about aviation are RUNNING the show with their friends and family. That is all.

Boeing has already weeded out a lot of Seniors with either retirement & VLO’s these few years. The bulk of their workforce are from the 2014 generation & beyond. At contract time, there will almost be the guarantee of a signing bonus of some sort. With it be a given to all this d-mb young generation, chances are the union will break. This new generation is d-mbbbbb flash money in front of them & they’ll take it without thinking about the repercussions. Longevity is not in their dud asss mindsets.

As long as there's enough revenue to pay my salary and my bonuses (that alone are more than your salary) for couple more years, all is great! I didn't get to executive by caring about company or employees. My daddy got me here and my life has been and will be great no matter Boeing's future. So complain all you want...hahaha!

Boeing wants to get rid of job security based on years of service so they can layoff people who make more money.

That’s the concession they want, if that happens the majority of future layoffs will layoff the highest paid employees first, instead of based on seniority.

That’s why they had this large layoff during Covid and only brought back new people with no experience who won’t care about seniority.

They need to be worried about finding anyone who wants a career in aerospace, given how volatile they made it. Most young people do not want to go into a career that has high turnover constantly.

But they’ve always worked on this mindset that labor is easily replaceable and hire and fire as needed.

Those Perks weren't earned. They were extorted.

There's a difference

I agree, the problem is they top load the workforce w/new hires & then dangle the $$ carrot. People who’ve never had the perks we enjoy ( that were hard earned ) don’t miss what they don’t know. It’s beyond obvious the Union is in bed w/the Co., while simultaneously being in the business of collecting dues…. so they will follow the party line - “ more jobs good! “ “business is booming, accept this & move on!” ….etc., we’ve all been down this road before. I’m hope I’m wrong & we see solidarity, but $$ does funny things to people’s heads. Boeing knows, look no further than 2014.

With the company trying hard to hire folks, and the industry showing signs of growth, now is the time to stay strong.
No giveaways, only improvements to the wage and benefit package.
Make them pay for moving the 87 out of state!
I remember back in the 90's while we were out on strike, the company came back with an offer that the wimp union leaders endorsed. We told them to get back to work and rejected the offer. Then, we finally got a decent contract.
Hope you guys have the ba--s to stand up for our fair share.

So, work the OT now and save for the vacation.

Well, when you have a Union that pushes you to accept a horrendous deal ( in the MIDDLE of a contract …!! ) & the Co. waves $$ under new-hire noses, we end up with a raw deal that’s a done deal. 2014… lost our pensions. It’s obvious they’re gearing up to do something similar come ‘24. What’s left to take? Medical & our holidays I guess…? Hopefully they’ll offer another VLO & maybe I’ll check myself out….

I suspect that the new contract will offer a signing bonus If the union is willing to give up seniority based guaranteed retention.

Boeing executives pushed the engineering union for this concession and once they got it, they immediately went after the highest paid engineers in the Company laid most of all of them off. It was also motivated by a desire to stop people from accruing additional pension benefits, by adding years of service.

I also believe this was part of the motivation. The company had for laying off so many people during Covid and replacing them all with new hires with no experience.

When it comes to contract, negotiations the union will have difficulty dealing with Boeing as Boeing absolutely has no morals or ethics, in how they treat their employees.

New rumor: 2024 contract will be $30k signing bonus but we forfeit our holiday time off going forward. Note I said RUMOR. It kinda makes sense tho with their reckless pedal to the metal, jack up production business plan…. get the new hires in place, wave the $ under their noses ( they know it works, everytime ) & get to work!

Have listened to dozens of quarterly reports and they all surmise to the same message. "Boeing is laser focused on transformation while we scale up challenges and diversify red income."
