The best way to stay employed is to sc--w up the project just enough to get through the layoff period.

  1. If you finish the project early or on time. You will get layoff first.
  2. If you sc--w up the project, you have 50/50 chance of survival. Why?
    a. cause if they were going to layoff the team, then they will do that anyway
    b. cause if you sc--w up the project and the company has to deliver it, then they will add additional funding to complete it. This may give you just enough time to get through the layoff period. And by that time, they may get more funding for new project. And if not, what's the the worst case, they lay you off. Well, they were going to do that anyway. You just bought yourself some time to update your resume and start interviewing. Much better to find another job while you are still employed.

If you're from the same country as your manager, fail all you want. You're safe.

The best way to stay employed is to fail up! This means never out perform your manager. If your manager is a failure and keeps getting promoted fail with him and everyone gets promoted … remember $hit floats to the top at Qualcomm… but if you show a failing manager up or outperform him… you will get faired bc he is failing with his manger… Do NOT rock the boat at Qualcomm
