Is everybody ready for the coming layoffs? The only reason why this is happening is overhiring. Meta hired people without even knowing what they would be doing just to make sure Meta got them, and not somebody else. That's not a winning strategy in any way, shape, or form.

Sure. "Overhiring" is the reason. I guess is possible that's the latest "buzzword" and justification for why all the other employers are doing layoffs. On the other hand, it's also possible that Metaverse is a pile of horsesh-t that will never happen so all those folks hired to work on it have nothing to do? Also, when my own daughter says "Dad! Facebook is for angry white guys and boomers" you know Facebook is in trouble.

nevermind that facebook’s user base is in drastic decline, ad rates are getting crushed, the metaverse is DOA, and the company lost more than half its market cap in 2022. That’s all irrelevant, it’s just because of over hiring. Got it. Thanks for the insight, boomer. astute as always.

As ready as I'll ever be. shrug Not sure what it means to be "read for the coming layoffs". If it means that I am doing what I usually do and making sure that I am a necessary component to a team that has relevance and a connection to revenue then, yes, I'm ready.
