Thread regarding TransCanada Corp. layoffs

How bad is it?

Anyone willing to share any details? How many are being let go? What’s the severance? How many moved into the BUs?

Does anyone know what the end total was? I don’t think publishing layoffs is required for under 50 layoffs.

Must be a strategy to get people to leave on their own terms. Introduce stressful environments a few times a year. People get stressed. Look elsewhere.

Moving everyone around and injecting unnecessary chaos will surely lead to cost savings and optimization.

Bet more people resigned in the last month than they laid off over the past two days. So d-mb.

Also to the NDP jokester you have to be pretty basic to think that’s funny. This small layoff has been planned for months.

More fallout from Coastal Gas Link. High risk ROW going 'over the top' rather than adding a few extra miles in the valleys. Looked good on paper at the time!

TC Energy (NYSE: TRP) is cutting an unspecified number jobs to "optimize value," Reuters reported late Tuesday, citing a company spokesperson.

All the best to those impacted. I just can’t help but wonder why they would choose now to “optimize value” when in the process of trying to sell off significant assets in order to raise capital? I assume any prospective buyer would value the cost efficiencies they would gain by reducing duplicate costs and gaining efficiencies, partly driven by reducing indirect costs/people post-acquisition. There certainly is value in that, so It might have been a more strategic plan if they were to push the affected people into the BU’s of the asset(s) being sold, creating additional efficiency opportunities for a prospective buyer on the back end of an acquisition.
